Next Lot of TV Changes

by Stuka » 23 Aug 2012 15:10

I understand at the moment all games up to the end of November (Aston Villa V Reading) will not change and there is due a further set of TV changes effecting the games in December and January.

Anyone know when these might be announced? I think I read it somewhere but can't find it.

Trying to get top the bottom of this with the PL. Does anyone have a source where these dates were actually published - I remember they were but can't find it anywhere on the web now.

These dates were on the back of the RFC fixture card, presumably sanctioned by the PL.

It was originally posted on the official site, when the fixtures came out (June 18th I think). Those pages are now not available in the News Archive on the site, so it seems that things have changed. RFC have not come back to me yet, and searching t'internet has yielded nothing so far... :(

The PL have come back to me and apparently these dates are when the process begins, not when it ends .... they try to give a minimum of 6 weeks' notice so we're still about 4 weeks to go until that is up.

I smell shenaningans somewhere here .....

I thought it was all too good to be true when they announced it... Will chase for a response from RFC...

I get the impression the PL are none-to-pleased that RFC published it ..... which may be why it disappeared from the website.

Good point - after all, does the PL (or RFC for that matter) really care about making away fans' travel plans easier and cheaper to arrange, by booking further in advance? I guess not, so we end up gambling on train tickets that may not be refundable, and hoping that we don't get moved...

Exactly. I'm afraid this is the reality of being in such a League.

West Ham have to be on at least 3 times in Dec as everyone loves them so it takes time for them to sort it all out.

That makes sense to be honest.

They want to pick games that will be key games, especially with the games not involving the big boys. Reading v West Ham, for example would be a better game if it was between two relegation candidates than if one of them was mid-table. It would give it a bit of edge.

It's not as if you can really tell after 3 or 4 games who'll be struggling and who'll be mid-table, so it makes games harder to pick.

Plus the manual detailing the order of picks between the two companies is quite horrible - there are limits on how many times each club can be picked in each TV package, so there's a whole complic8ed process with lots of negoti8ions whilst the two companies argue out who'd getting what.

They also don't want to have the big clubs too often in each package now or they won't be allowed them at the end of the season when they want them for title deciders, etc, so it takes for ever, with lots of wheeler-dealing and compromises.
