Athens - The statistic may be a few years old now and may not still be current, but certainly up to 8 years ago clubs from Athens had reached the final of European competitions more than clubs from any other city in Europe.

So 1 European Cup win and that was almost half a century ago. They played a whole 4 games to reach that final such was the strength of football in Europe at the time beating the mighty FK Vojvodina & Dukla Prague along the way

Lol, just lol[/quote]

Also runners up in 1970. It's not just about that though, look at number of good managers and players to have come from there, Alex Ferguson, Kenny Dalglish, Matt Busby........there are a disproportionate amount of other managers and players in our leagues also from Glasgow.

Record attendances galore on top of that, 135,000 for the Real Madrid v Frankfurt European Cup Final, they were probably mostly locals. 150,000 Scotland against England. The national football stadium is also located there which is not even the capital city. Of course, Edinburgh has a different culture, nonetheless, there won't be too many countries where the national stadium is not in the capital city.
