Newcastle fans were spotted with them. Seriously, who gives a dam? They don't get that much use during the game. To be honest all I give a oxf*rd about it us winning!

That nearly justifies my piss-taking and infantile user name.

FFS, Football seems beyond help or rescue. Kids stuff I suppose, unless...........nah, surely a grown adult doesn't enjoy that sh1t........do they?

The club can't win. Normally you get the moaners saying "no atmosphere in the Mad Stad" and when they try to do something about it, no doubt the same moaners say this is s##t and we hate it. If you haven't noticed, we are a family club whether people like it or not and it does improve the atmosphere. My kids love them and so do a majority of the younger generations in the ground. Guess we're all stuck with them.

Christ, the kids have a drum they can join in with as it is and you don't need him amplified ten fold!

The only thing more annoying and tedious than the clappers is the bitching and moaning every time it's announced that there will be clappers at a game.

That's football in the 21st century - shite and aimed at families and kids rather than at traditional supporters, but why are people so constantly surprised?

Why should people just sit back and accept it though?

If everyone uses them as paper aeroplanes and throws them on the pitch we'll never see them again. Now there's a thought.

Because there are some battles worth fighting, and others which are unwinnable ... even if the right way to make a point was by bitching and moaning on an internet messageboard.

But no-one has to sit back and accept it - they have the right contact the club and let them know how much they dislike the idea, or ultimately to vote with their feet and not attend the matches.

If enough people do that then the club will get the message... but I don't think enough people will ever care passionately enough about it to make a protest.

So clappers on the pitch it is then, can win easy if people did that.

Thing is though, the majority couldn't give a toss, so don't expect too many peopl to join you in your protest

Its the families and in particular the kids that are the future "traditional supporters" of the club. Maybe not now but in 10-20 years time they will be the hardcore support that you refer to. The club isn't going to risk making it boring for them. Whilst they don't sit in Y25/26 yet they will be in 10 years time (well my kids will be anyway).

What, you mean along with just about every other team in the league? Grow up and grow one.

They make a really annoying farting noise. I plan to grab the box from the distributor and set fire to it on the pitch just before kick off.

Not fussed any more. Do you ever notice them in bulk during a game? No. Before yes, but so what? Fulham, Chelsea, Norwich and Newcastle have had them recently, amongst many others. It's a gimmick for the littlens.

If you sang your heart out all game instead of sit in silence for the majority of the 90 minutes, you wouldn't even notice them!

Yeah you would, cos every time you start a song, the people round you would start clapping their things in time instead of singing.

Start a song? So I take it you're in Y25/26? In which case I hardly saw anyone use them at all the last time we had them! A couple of pissed teens behind me started using them out of boredom, and they we told to put them away, and did so. If on the other hand you sit near the drummer and they try and sing and people use them then, well you shouldn't be near the poxy drummer then.. The point is they get used in moderation, not in their thousands (during the game). Get over it.

Anyone who genuinely gets upset by this is more tedious than the child in front of me who thinks its funny to hit everyone with his clapper.

People who just say get over it really are defeatist. Do you get anywhere in life just sitting there in silence? I doubt you can even do that in the West now with those things!

So what do you actually propose to do, apart from moan about it on here?

Please outline your anti-clapper campaign activities so people can join in if they agree with your aims.
