urz13 They make a really annoying farting noise. I plan to grab the box from the distributor and set fire to it on the pitch just before kick off.

ZacNaloen Even my 7 year old nephew hates these bloody clappers and just throws it on the floor as soon as he gets to his seat

Alexander Litvinenko The only thing more annoying and tedious than the clappers is the bitching and moaning every time it's announced that there will be clappers at a game.
That's football in the 21st century - shite and aimed at families and kids rather than at traditional supporters, but why are people so constantly surprised?

Compo's Hat People who just say get over it really are defeatist. Do you get anywhere in life just sitting there in silence? I doubt you can even do that in the West now with those things!

Tony Le Mesmer Well past moaning about this, I actually find it quite funny now. It does make a noise, and lets face it, if our support was actually capable of creating some kind of atmosphere itself then we would'nt need gimics.
I even heard people moaing about Seas of Scarves. Get real for christ sake. Taking a scarf to football and showing your colours is as traditional as it gets. Only diff is now that we need the club to tell us to do things like that. If we had the whole ground waving a blue and white scarf it would look superb, but no, most people even refuse to do that and stick to the same old cringeworthy chants you hear at ever other ground.
You tell me what Reading fans have done themselves in the last 14 years to improve the atmosphere?

Why does he take one in the first place?

When was PANTS day? That worked pretty well! (even though it was intended as a protest).
Beard Days worked well too.
Pardew said he loved the club and the atmosphere really picked up whenever he came along after that!

So what do you actually propose to do, apart from moan about it on here?
Please outline your anti-clapper campaign activities so people can join in if they agree with your aims.

UpThePrem Have to say the clappers improved the atmosphere on Sat. The so called die hard fans in Y26/Y27 went quiet as soon as we went behind and it was the drummer and those in the north stand (with their clappers) that kept the atmosphere alive. Without them, it would have been like the usual Mad Stad with no atmosphere at all when were losing.
