Snowball Nomad, it's highly unlikely that Hughes will go BEFORE Sunday
but McDermott MIGHT.

Come Sunday RFC are at QPR and the bookies have QPR 5/6 to win it and we are higher than 3/1

If QPR lose I'd say it's 50-75% likely that Hughes would be sacked

If Reading lose I'd say it's 40% likely McD would go. If they lose badly I'd say it would be 75-90% likely
and if we then lost to Norwich, 99%

So the point is, NOT that McD should go, or that I think he WILL go
but that it's "almost" a 22-1 pay-out for a QPR win on Sunday, which,
backed directly only pays 5/6

No guarantees, of course, but what odds would McD be if we knew he was losing at QPR?

Think that's stretching it a bit, by your own reckoning it's less than 50/50 unless we lose big. You also need to factor in the possibility of Adkins being sacked on Saturday should Southampton get caned again.

I reckon McDermott is around a 4/1 shot, therefore, a cracking bet at 22/1

It's also first manager to leave, not be fired - so worth bearing that in mind - even AZ doesn't fire the bullet, McD may consider his position is untenable and resign. Although, I hope he doesn't and I hope we thrash QPR and Sunday is our comeback where we start winning and storm up the table.

I'm not sure someone like Brian would leave in the middle of such an important run of fixtures.

How did you price it up? Quick look at the market and i'm guessing they have an overound of about 250%. Pure guesswork (not saying you're wrong btw)

I am prepared to offer 1,000-1 against that. (£50 minimum bet)

I went to try to put a ton on that with Stan James. Put a tenner on first to then get a free tenner
but when I then tried to bet the other £90 it kept refusing saying maximum bet was £8-10p
then the facility for the bet disappeared altogether.

I contacted tech support and they said market was closed until the morning

(I thought maybe there'd been a rush of money...)

PS I really don't think "next" will be McD. I'm just saying the odds are extremely generous

Should be back up now snowballers. Still 20s with Sky Bet and a couple of others if you can't lump any more on with Stan James.

Sky bet are offering a free £10 bet for new phone users plus a free £5 bet every week.

Not sure how good their odds are though.

Crudely, we are evens to lose at QPR, if we lose I'm guessing there's a 6/4 ish chance that it will be Brian's last game, then there's the risk of someone else getting the bullet in the interim.

If I was confident a total stranger from the internet would pay up £50,000, I'd go for that on the terms of Adkins not being Southampton manager by Kick off at Loftus Road on Sunday as I'd say that's no more than a 50/1 shot.

Anywhere still 20's?

Snowball's punt seems to have moved Stan James price into 12's

My bet was utterly solid as you said "if Saints lose Saturday"

They aren't playing until Monday

My attitude is I want McDermott to stay, for us to W or D at QPR

But if it goes pear-shaped, we lose and McD goes, I'll have £2,200 compensation
