Rumours circulating that McCarthy won't make Saturday.

So bloody annoying as we will have to deal with F****** Federici

Not sure about this Roberts love affair all you guys are having, he had a stinker on Sunday, his whole game revolves around not jumping and backing into defenders to try and get free kicks.

Has Stuart Taylor ever been a first choice goalie ever??
I'm hoping he plays if McCarthy is out

Well if he doesn't he's entitled to question why he bothered to come here. Feds has had his chance, McCarthy should be number one and straight back in the side when he's over the shoulder injury, but in the mean time Taylor deserves his chance to cover.

I have a horrible feeling though that BM will bow to Feds bottom lip and let him back in, and worst still let him keep the shirt until he has another reasons to drop him. oxf*rd hope not!!

I expect him to go with what the OP suggested, but I wouldn't be disappointed to see him go with:

McCarthy

Gunter
Morrison
Gorkss
Shorey

Leigertwood
Guthrie

McAnuff
Hunt
McCleary

Pogrebnyak

It would be harsh on Tabb, but we're at home and should be taking the game to Norwich and Gurhrie is the best ball player we have. He'd have Hunt playing the traditional number 10 role, which I think he could fulfill well. And I'd hope the instrucions to everyone would be to look for Pogrebnyak's feet whenever possible and only use the long ball over the top to him when absolutely necessary.

And seeing as this is all only fantasy anyway, he'd stick Samuel and Obita on the bench.

which by your definition, would mean that until that day happens Feds is up to the job.

Why all the Federici hate? He was absolutely outstanding last season. You know, when we won the league.

He doesn't really have much option than not to go with the starting line-up at QPR.

What a predicament for a Premiership Club!

.... and that had better include McCarthy, whether disabled or not. Dreading it - more than usual - otherwise.

Australian, refuses to be on the bench, drowns kittens and other false accusations (apart from the Australian bit that is true, as far as I know). That and the cardinal sin of expressing some professional ambition.

That'd suit me. Although I'd prefer Pearce for Gorkss. What I want to see more crucially is the bench and how it's used. We need a midfielder on it - even if it's just Bryn. And if we take the lead and are looking like we've run out of momentum and the opposition are coming back into it, then we need to switch tactics, pad out midfield and slow the game down.

Tabb's earnt his place. Ledge did well too. Hunt & Roberts weren't great, but perhaps it's time to stick to a line up for a couple of games to see how it can gel and improve.

My pick:

McCarthy (If not fit Federici), Cummings, Pearce, Morrison/ Mariappa, Shorey, McAnuff, Ledge, Guthrie, HRK, Pog, ALF.

Pass and keep the ball using the wings for both halves, subs on to protect the lead and take off tired legs . Win a comfortable 1-0.

McDermott's pick:

McCarthy (If not fit Federici), Cummings, Gorkss :x, Morrison, Shorey, Kebe, Ledge, Tabb, McAnuff, Pog, Hunt.

1st half, excellent after battering their defence and take a 1-0 to 2nd half. 2nd Half-Hoof. Pass to the opposition and lose another lead. Subs to late and add nothing to change the game, lose 2-1.

And those of us that have been supporting the club for 30 years? An opinion that differs from your own doesn't make anyone a better or lesser fan.

Feds was superb last year, it looks like a one off mind, as previous to that he always looked likely to make a mistake, and this season is back to that standard. McCarthy clearly deserves the number one shirt now, and with him injured then Taylor deserves a shot too.

40 odd years here.....for all it matters......you obviously know a lot more about Taylor than I. You also seem to have forgotten why Mc was dropped last season (having held the #1 shirt for a decent run)........not to mention your crystal ball powered knowledge of Feds future games.

Hats off to you and your opinions..you haven't even heard mine

McCarthy wasn't dropped last season, Feds was #1 all year. The year before McCarthy was dropped for the same reason Feds was dropped two years before, because the senior goalkeeper was fit again.

No objections to Feds, but McCarthy is in great form so I'd prefer him.

I'd like: McCarthy (Feds if not fit), Gunter, Pearce, Mariappa (Gorkss if not fit), Shorey, Kebe, Guthrie, Legs, McAnuff, Roberts, ALF.
Harsh on Tabb, I'd like him to come on for a striker if we are winning at around 60 minutes.

Never though I'd say this, but want Tabby to start. See no reason to change the team from Sunday barring any injuries.

Id like to see this -

-------------McCarthy------------

Gunter---Pearce---Morrison---Shorey

McCleary--Tabb--Leigertwood--McAnuff

---------Le Fondre-----Roberts-----------

But i doubt it. I would say Guthrie instead of Tabb but I think Tabb has earned another start. My guess is Gorkss, Hunt and possibly Kebe will start as well.

Yeah, that's a good shout. I'd go for that, or maybe I'd change Roberts for Pog, and if he is up for it, Kebd for GMac.
