Slough Town FA Cup

by royal_ross » 13 Nov 2012 12:37

Hopefully Slough beat Mansfield tonight in the replay at Beaconsfield. As my local team I'll be supporting the boys, maybe even Brian may be there :)

Would love a Royals - Rebels 3rd round tie, proper local derby!

Garath McCleary is going down apparently.

Tipping Slough to win. Not been to the ground in a few years but if the pitch is as bad as normal it will help them

Pitch is not brilliant, with 2 games a week every week for last few months. It will be a culture shock for Mansfield, that's for sure. When will be the last time they walked through a caged area to get to/from the pitch?!

8 years ago today, Slough beat Walsall 2-1 in the 1st round, an omen? If they win tonight, they could play Walsall in the 2nd round...

That's SYCOB Beaconsfield's ground isn't it, on the M40 junction. Been there a couple of times and seems not at all shabby for the level of football being played there. Likewise love to see Reading v Slough at the Mad Stad in Round 3 (we might even have a chanve of winning that one).

Yes thats the one.

Stag Meadow pitch held up alot better with two clubs then SYCOB but then Windsor and Eton put in about as much money as they owed the tax man into it so that would explain it! Surprised Slough spent so long at SYCOB its had a knock on effect on crowds. Pretty sure Slough got 2,000 for a game vs Salisbury in the cup, i think it was, at Stag Meadow and as far as i know are nothing like getting that tonight.

Was Yeading with 2400 and Salisbury with over 1000. Point still stands!

Agreed - average home gate in low 200's at the moment, but probably 1,000 tonight, so a good uplift. 2,000 at Wexham Park for Macclesfield Town 1st Round FA Cup replay in 1998, would be good to see that number again, but it won't happen with the ground 5 miles outside the town...

Probably just because most people are younger than you. What are you 40/45 years old?

Good luck to Slough tonight and good luck to the Mansfield fans who will all end up in completely the wrong place!

I presume Wrexham Park Stadium was meant to be Wexham. Still not very helpful!

I was there. My first ever away game, I was 12 years old and went with my dad. Was packed out and a nasty atmosphere, Reading fans fighting amongst themselves for reasons I have never grasped. And we stacked a 3-1 lead in injury time

What page of the site is that on?

They have the same useless site template as us, and finding anything is nigh on impossible.

That is on the front page of Mansfields official website! Even now the live match score is being relayed it still has the wrong stadium.

I recall Chewitt (famous old Reading hooligan) and his mates walking up to the ground from the town centre, spitting on two Asian chaps as they walked under the underpass, chasing some black men away from their car, and overturning a fruit and veg stall owned by Asians.

Weird. When I pull up the home page it doesn't even mention the Slough game, let alone give a live score. It says the next game is Sunday's match v Luton.
