Area around stadium

Why can't the club ask the council about closing the a33 to non football traffic would make it a lot more easy to get out the ground? And more f1 buses getting back quicker

It'd actually make it worse - those parked up away from official stadium car parks would all have to use alternative routes instead of the A33 and there'd be a bigger traffic problem.

I thought this would be either a bouncy castle or pub thread.

Shutting the A33 wouldn't work but they and the police really ought to do something about the really dangerous post-match mix of traffic and pedestrians on the roundabout at the bottom of Hurst Way.

Whilst I could just about accept buses being parked on the incoming side, why the f*ck do they allow taxis, minicabs and private cars to (double) park all around the roundabout and on the immediate approaches?!

Also, it surely would be safer, and ultimately quicker, to adopt the Man City approach to the roads out of their stadium. i.e. use plenty of stewards to police the junction and alternate between allowing pedestrians to cross and cars to use the road.

Maybe because it would probably need more stewards than the club can afford. City do have a bit more cash...............

Surely stewards are assigned at X per thousand supporters. Therefore unlikely that City have a particularly higher ratio. Perhaps the club should rexamine what the exisiting stewards do at the end of games. Alternatively they should make sure that the police, which they are forced to pay for, do their bit to ensure highways remain unobstructed and public safety is maintained. After the Norwich game I saw a handful of PC Plod just walking calmly away from where all the traffic/pedestrian chaos was.
