New Year's Day football

by soggy biscuit » 01 Jan 2013 16:52

Viva Danny Graham!

Portsmouth lose 5-0 to Swindon. LOL
Newport lose 5-0 at home to Forest Green

Bottom 3 in league 2 all win

Peterborough win yet again, what a run they are on.

Not a good day for us so far with Villa some how getting a point at Swansea (it could have been worse) and Fulham winning but at least Wigan lost and Saints are now to play Arsenal.
Cardiff go marching on as do Bournemouth where with the same players Eddie Howe has got them from the verge of relegation to the verge of promotion.
Martin Allen's Gills back on track.

is Villa's point at Swansea bad for Liverpool then?

Now don't get me wrong, Reading have been doing better recently, but watching Southampton play enterprising attacking football is thoroughly depressing. They play with pace, move off the ball, create space in the midfield.

We could do that if our manager wanted us to play like that. It's ok though, he's still learning his trade.

If we go down this season one slight positive would be if Swindon went up. They look on fire at the moment and are not far off the automatic places.

Would love to see us play them next season if we do eventually go down.

Poor old Pompey, 0-0 at halftime and only four nominated subs....also see that their hero and saviour Rocha has disappeared

Looking nailed-on for Div 2 next season

Both Wigan and Saints gave Arsenal a game whereas we tamely handed 3 points to them without their players breaking sweat.
It is not just about systems it is a belief that you can match the other side and Saints did that today and were a shade unfortunate not to win.

Pretty much what I am banking on. Getting a good rivalry going with them again would be gr8

Everton defenders: it's not offside if the opposing player is two yards further from the goal than your second-to-last defensive player when the ball is played, and the only two players who attempt to play the ball before it reaches him are your own. So leave your arms by your sides.

It's also not allowed to try to play the ball with your hand if you aren't a goalkeeper Danny Simpson.

The play is called back though as Cheick Tiote is booked for clattering Jagielka after he crossed it in. That's 29 bookings in 64 Premier League games. His fine bill must be keeping the club afloat.
