Can I bring Darts in?

by The Rouge » 10 Jan 2013 12:34

Staying a friend's place the night before and playing Darts (so taking my darts). Staying overnight then travelling to the MadStad, so will have my darts on me. Can I take them in? I probably know the answer but I guess I'll be taking them in anyway, in a case, as they will simply stay in my pocket. Cheers.

I doubt they'll feel anything if your're searched. It's only a little prick.

As long as they don't give us a rendition of Daddy Cool then it should be OK.

You should be ok to take them in to the ground. The only problem is when you check out.

Way back in the day Danny Baker had an ongoing thread in his BBC Radio 5Live programme about items allowed in and refused at football grounds.

The extremes that I recall were a chef with a full set of knives being allowed into a ground and a paperback book being confiscated at another

Just arrange for them to be collected after the match in the concourse. Good darts is the right phrase ISTR.

What gate will you be using? In my experience, they only search people using Gate 8. But they bloke who sits next to me seems to be able to bring in all sorts of lethal weapons (motorbike helmet, golf umbrella... )

On a (slightly) related note, at Crawley, they were doing full body searches of all the blokes and checking the bags of the very few women ahead of me. I began to feel slightly nervous about the small aerosol deodorant I was trying to sneak in (as I'd had one confiscated at the Mad Stad  ). But the steward took one look at my bag, backed off nervously, asked me if I had any cans or bottles, accepted my confident "No, none at all" and let me in without hassle.

There's a moral to that story, I'm sure.

Try to avoid bringing them out when we score and the darts music comes on!

They could feel 3 pricks, like your missus on her lunch break.

If you're really worried, either give them to a steward supervisor to look after or drop them off at reception and pick them up after.
