While they'll no doubt say this was "to assist the stewards in enforcing ground regulations", it shows the state of football today where a club can use the police as their private army to stifle any negative comments - and that the police are quite prepared to do that.

It's always going to look more dangerous if you're going straight at the player as well. There's nothing wrong with lunging in, providing you've timed it even vaguely well, and you're going past / around the player not at them.
