Jeez, even if we beat Villa and beat QPR we are 99% certain to go down (or we have to get away points at Arsenal or Man Utd and win at Norwich or West Ham

I expect a few of our rivals to start getting results. QPR/Villa/Saints in that order. I can't see anything other than bottom place and 35

No doubt I'm too optimistic (for them) with other teams but then I've got us down as WWD versus Villa/QPR/Saints and that seems VERY VERY unlikely

IMO to have even a CHANCE we have to beat Villa, QPR, Saints at home AND at least a point home to Liverpool. We'll still need results away from home. DOWN

Saints: Norwich A DRAW Liverpool H DRAW Chelsea H DRAW Reading A DRAW West ham H WIN Swansea A LOSE WBA H WIN Spurs A LOSE Sunderland A DRAW Stoke H WIN TOTAL POINTS 41 POINTS

Sunderland QPR A LOSE, Norwich H WIN, Man Utd H LOSE, Chelsea A LOSE, Newcastle A DRAW, Everton H DRAW, Aston Villa A LOSE, Stoke H WIN, Soton H DRAW, Spurs A LOSE TOTAL POINTS 39

Villa: City H LOSE Reading A LOSE QPR H DRAW Liverpool H DRAW Stoke A WIN Fulham H WIN United A LOSE Sunderland H WIN Norwich A DRAW Chelsea H LOSE Wigan A DRAW TOTAL POINTS 37

Wigan: Newcastle H WIN Norwich H WIN QPR A DRAW Swansea H DRAW West ham A DRAW Spurs H DRAW WBA A DRAW Arsenal A LOSE Villa H DRAW TOTAL POINTS 36

QPR: Sunderland H WIN Villa A DRAW Fulham A DRAW Wigan H WIN Everton A DRAW Stoke H WIN Reading A LOSE Arsenal H DRAW Newcastle H WIN Liverpool A LOSE TOTAL POINTS 36

Reading: Villa H WIN United A LOSE Arsenal A LOSE Saints H DRAW Liverpool H DRAW Norwich A DRAW QPR H WIN Fulham A DRAW City H DRAW West ham A DRAW TOTAL POINTS 35
Reading: Villa H WIN United A LOSE Arsenal A LOSE Saints H WIN Liverpool H DRAW Norwich A DRAW QPR H WIN Fulham A DRAW City H DRAW West ham A DRAW TOTAL POINTS 37 and down to GD?

As much as he's derided for his style, Snowball usually gets things right, so it's a :( from me after reading that.

Snowballs 35 point prediction is a little high for me.

Relegated with 32 points.

Don't need all that crap, just follow the ten game countdown thread, simple yet effective. We need five wins!!

The more I look at everyone's fixtures, the more I come to the conclusion that we're fukked.

I think there is a very slim chance that Sunderland could get drawn into the fight as they have a very hard run in - so it "might" be 3 from 6 depending on how Sunderland away at QPR and at home to Norwich go. Lose both and they have a problem.

It looks very tight though and I can see it going down to the last game. Predictions are almost pointless as there are usually a few wins by bottom teams against top sides during the last 10 games of the season and that will throw any predictions out - but 36 points looks like a realistic target to at least give you a chance of survival. That means we need at least 4 wins and a draw from the last 10.

It comes down to who wants it the most during the run in. Fulham did in 2007/8 (they were on 19 points after 28) and Wigan did last year (they were on 21 after 28). We have 23 so there are two precedents of teams surviving with even less points than us in the last few seasons.

Tokyo Sex Whale I appreciate there are plenty of games left after Villa, but if we lose I am 100% sure we will go down. Its too simplistic to say there is still 8/9 games to go or whatever it is - we could be relegated this weekend. (not literally).

Effectively, we're going down and all we're doing is waiting for the inevitable confirmation (and have been since our return to shite against Stoke IMO). But I do wish people wouldn't say nonsense like we're 100% down, or relegation is confirmed. It's not, until it actually is.

It may be a bit pedantic. But it's 100% accurate. Unlike us being 100% relegated after Villa if we lose. 95% relegated maybe.

Both positions are simplistic. What we really have here is a battle of feelings, not of objective descriptions of the facts. "Relegation is confirmed" and the like mean nothing more than "I've given up hope", whereas "there are nine games left, anything can happen" means exactly "I'm irrationally hopeful". Anyone who wants to contribute to an objective evaluation of the situation needs to make some assessment of the probabilities. Unfortunately it's human nature not to be very good with probabilities.

i dont think we'll need that. this could be one of the lowest points required to avoid relegation - reckon will be 35 enough

This is my absolutely favourite thread! Love the speculation. Can lie awake for hours working out permutations for the last ten games. Keep up the chatter. Bullshit to some...deeply provocative data for others. We are poised between 2nd and 3rd place, and I'm being optimistic here! This tells me that we're doomed, but where there's hope....

Snowball Villa: City H LOSE Reading A LOSE QPR H DRAW Liverpool H DRAW Stoke A WIN Fulham H WIN United A LOSE Sunderland H WIN Norwich A DRAW Chelsea H LOSE Wigan A DRAW TOTAL POINTS 37

Wigan: Newcastle H WIN Norwich H WIN QPR A DRAW Swansea H DRAW West ham A DRAW Spurs H DRAW WBA A DRAW Arsenal A LOSE Villa H DRAW TOTAL POINTS 36

QPR: Sunderland H WIN Villa A DRAW Fulham A DRAW Wigan H WIN Everton A DRAW Stoke H WIN Reading A LOSE Arsenal H DRAW Newcastle H WIN Liverpool A LOSE TOTAL POINTS 36

Reading: Villa H WIN United A LOSE Arsenal A LOSE Saints H WIN Liverpool H DRAW Norwich A DRAW QPR H WIN Fulham A DRAW City H DRAW West ham A DRAW TOTAL POINTS 37

I can't see Villa winning at Stoke, highly unlikely, so make that a defeat. Nor can I see Wigan beating both Newcastle and Norwich at home (after their recent 4-0 home defeat). Make one of those a draw.

That leaves both Wigan and Villa on 34 points...

And QPR beating Sunderland, Wigan, Stoke and Newcastle, in between drawing at Villa, Fulham , Europe-chasing Everton and Arsenal? Any one of them (most likely most!) will be a defeat, putting them on 34 points max...
