St. Brynjar Once we're mathematically relegated I'd be fine with Samuel, Ikpeazu, Obita and anyone else deemed good enough getting some minutes.

yeh, I think obita looks good and he's had a few games at lower level - maybe next season is time for him to be a bit part player at least

Thing is you look at Wolves and they relied on the same players that took them down and they are in danger of being relegated again, they haven't adapted but doesn't help if you keep changing managers - Blackburn are in an even worse position and its a joke seeing as they have some decentish players

2 world wars, 1 world cup I never thought I'd defend someone I've had so many bitter arguments with over Coppell and Rodgers appointment, but fair is fair, I think Royalee has the right to praise Rodgers and wish we hadn't sacked him. Yes he turned out to be a shockingly bad appointment as I vociferously predicted he would, as we wanted to bounce back quickly. But that's not to say given time he wouldn't come good. We shouldn't have ever appointed him, but when we did, we should've stuck with him. Royalee has every right to argue his merits.

I hope we give Adkins much more time than we gave Rodgers!

He can argue his merits all he wants that is fine. The problem is his refusal to acknowledge that the time Rodgers was here did not go according to plan and there were problems.

Hindsight is 20/20. Rodgers now has a test where he has to build a side like he had to do at Reading (and on a much larger scale in terms of the size of the club). At Swansea the groundwork had largely been done in terms of the style of play and the way they wanted to go so it wasn't the same as the job he had to do here.

Rodger got a lot from Sigurdsson and used him in a number of positions, as did McDermott.

It's not surprise that Sigurdsson got better as time went on though as he was learning all the time and, possibly more important, getting stronger and fitter. To have a pop at Rodgers for the way he introduced Sigurdsson is just daft and petty and if there was any doubt over how well he knew how to manage him and get a lot from him then I can't imagine the loan move to Swansea would've happened.

I basically agree with Hoop and Zac. Uche is a good goalscorer, but I think he might be something of a flat-track bully. He's very strong, but he doesn't, from what I've seen of him, have the same ability as Samuel, or Taylor-Crossdale who is a year younger.

Interestingly, that's two years in a row we've had the top scorer in the U18 league. Credit Craig Tanner?

Bloody hell, it was their fans calling for their club to snap him up last week. Hopefully he gets a chance to impress Adkins in the summer. Looks a big prospect.

Wouodnt mind seeing Ikpeazu, Obita, Samuel given a few sub appearances. Think Samuel will be the first to shine.

Royals under-18s 3 - 0 Chelsea under-18s

Uche Ikpeazu scored a hat-trick as the Royals Academy sealed their fifth Elite League win in a row with a comfortable victory over Chelsea.

Ikpeazu, who has also featured for the under-21s this season, notched two well-taken strikers and converted a penalty to continue the Academy's rich vein of form.

The win means that Eamonn Dolan's men firmly keep the pressure on the sides above them, as the Royals aim for a play-off clinching top-three finish.

The Royals are just four points off third-placed Southampton with three games in hand - click here to view the table.

Bolton are up next for the under-18s away in Lancashire - click here to view the fixtures.

Reading:Lincoln, Long, Griffin, Kuhl, Hyam, Cooper, Murombedzi, Stacey, Ikpeazu, Tanner, Fosu
Subs: Ward, Kelly, Dickie, McLennan, Taylor-Crossdale

tbf Chelsea had an FA youth cup game the day before so they had a lot of 15 and 16 year olds in their team. I doubt anyone will be jumping str8 from the under-18s to the first team.

I can't wait for the next academy player to come through. Hopefully Uche is the man. Always more exciting knowing it could be a striker.

I was hoping for a CAM like SIG. Surely one of D'Ath, Taylor and Losasso should have managed to get some games by now.

Tanner's a good little player, if he progresses he'll be a Sig type.

Plus we have that young Icelandic guy coming in next season so inevitable comparisons sure to follow :)
