yeah, let's just improve our possession stats and then we'll be Ok. Come back Brendan, all is forgiven.

Possession just implies you're the better team. It doesn't mean you are. Or even that you scored more goals (ref; Barcelona).

No, but possession sure as hell helps. No team has ever been relegated from the PL with more than 51% of possession over the course of the season. I think that says a lot.

With Reading it's not really been a case of failing to retain possession, rather it's a case of just giving it away too damned easily.

Even teams who have no particular rep for keeping the ball have more possession than normal when they play us.

Under BM we were the team who had the highest percentage of our possession being in the opposition's half. And yet we were also the team with the lowest number of chances created.

None of those sorts of stats are the be all and end all but they do paint a picture.

We're not bad because we can't keep the ball.

Diouf makes it 1-1 for Leeds and then gets sent off for gesturing at Brighton fans. He's still as classy as ever then.

Brighton retake the lead. McDermott closing in on his second defeat in a row.

Big plus one. Football is a relatively simple game. If you have control of the football the other team can't score.

Don't necessarily disagree with this. Just making the point that having the ball is not the be-all and end-all. Bayern weren't bothered about not having the ball the other night. They were just bothered about using it effectively, i.e. scoring, when they did have it.

Local press quoting McDermott at Leeds awards dinner saying "More fans here than at a Reading home game"

Warm welcome next season or shall we also just move on?

That would be hilarious if it wasn't the case that Leeds attendances have been less than ours at time this season...

Shame he feels the need to make jokes at the expense of a fanbase that for the most part treated him very well. Perhaps he'll change his tune when he sees what actual fickle fans look like when the Leeds fans turn on him.

He wouldn't have even got the Leeds job had we not taken a massive punt on him so lets hope he can manage his ego.

I said on another thread, I've seen a couple of interviews where he's acted like billy big bollox & seems odd. It's probably bravado as he feels he has to look tough to the Leeds fans or something but still it doesn't suit him.

Quite confident we'll finish above them next season.

He's becoming increasingly unpopular with Reading fans every time he opens his mouth atm....

He won't give a shit of course, but in the long run it may harm the nice guy image he's spent so long cultivating.

Well he better toughen up quickly then seeing as we're some of the mildest meekest fans going! He left on pretty good terms and we've essentially set him up for life so I don't think we can feel too bad.

Don't kick everyone on the way up as you never know who you might need on the way down..

Really? Shit?

Some may believe it was the right decision to sack him, but there are very few showing the lack of respect he did tonight.
