Schards#2
just some bloke
Schards#2 No, I wouldn't

It's not that it doesn't involve Reading (I watch hundreds of neutral games a year on Sky), it's the fact that it's not competitive and, therefore, meaningless.

You think there's anything 'friendly' about any Brazil - Argentina game?

What about an England - Scotland 'friendly'?

Read my lips

Not interested

There's one coming up and I wouldn't go if it was being played at the Madejski. However much the fans might big it up, the players will treat it as a kickabout followed by six subs by each side.

All I'm saying is not all friendlies are created equal. Reading getting together a hotchpotch of whoever fancies it from the first team and their youth and reserves on the coach to go down the road and take on Basingstoke away in July isn't exactly the same as the next chapter in the Brazil - Argentina rivalry, is it?

This is about media, money and the town, and much less to do with pre-season preparation.

Fantastic for Bournemouth the town, and the AFC's profile, but after Ian Harte's been slogging his arse off for 75 minutes, and then Christiano Ronaldo comes on for his cameo and football rapes him...what's that doing for morale?

Can't argue that it'll be an athletic test, and the locals are certainly excited about it, but it's an exhibition match rather than a warm-up. More footballing value in what we did last night.

Ronaldo breaks the hand of a young boy in the 6th minute free kick. Lad stays for the full game. Real send him a signed shirt and Bournemouth give him a signed ball

Big Foot
No Fixed Abode Thing is, with clubs such as Reading, if a big Premier League Club such as Swansea come to town, it's pretty exciting to see some decent players like Michu etc.

Agreed. Not forgetting JonJo SheLOLvey.

Good goal from him yesterday.

tbh though we probably got a lot more from the Swansea game than Bournemouth did from the Real Madrid game (in a footballing sense, not a money one)
