Ian Royal Cracking movement from Lambert to lose his marker. Timed to perfection, sold him the wrong way and then buried it. And bar a bobble he'd have had a brace. Should have done much better with his third effort.
He's smart, he's big and he knows where the goal is. I'd be quite happy with him as a back up striker to use as a super sub. He'll be just as capable of being a flat track bully as Rooney, Defoe, Welbeck, Carroll or Sturridge and he might, just *might* have the nous to score from a set piece against a good team. He's not the future, but he's a decent stop gap whilst the likes of Welbeck and Sturridge prove themselves properly and we're waiting for someone else to come through.
Wilshere looked a cut above everyone else on the pitch. Rooney was mediocre as usual in an England shirt, Gerrard's past it. Cleverley was a bit hit and miss. Walcott is better than the one trick pony he sometimes tries to be, probably because he's encouraged to do so.
Should have dicked all over Scotland, but that's England's under-achievers. And Scotland had decent play, were well up for it and scored a couple of good goals, courtesy of piss poor keeping and defending from Hart and Cahill.
