Two average teams playing a terrific game of football. We really should bring back the Home Internationals. Only thing we'll have a chance of winning in a while.

Mr Lambert certainly deserves his cap, however needing a goal with 20 minutes to go there's only one English striker with more than 10 premiership goals...

Well, that shut me up mid post.

Should've been disallowed! Corner taken outside of quadrant.

Cracking game.

Did anyone mention a beetroot factory?

Big ask for England to qualify though... Need 3 wins out of 4 to be safe?

Really enjoyed that game, thought Scotland looked a lot better than they're doing!

Why did it have to be bloody Lambert that won it though...

Let's hope Gerrard continues that poor form into the season with Liverpool.

Cracking movement from Lambert to lose his marker. Timed to perfection, sold him the wrong way and then buried it. And bar a bobble he'd have had a brace. Should have done much better with his third effort.

He's smart, he's big and he knows where the goal is. I'd be quite happy with him as a back up striker to use as a super sub. He'll be just as capable of being a flat track bully as Rooney, Defoe, Welbeck, Carroll or Sturridge and he might, just *might* have the nous to score from a set piece against a good team. He's not the future, but he's a decent stop gap whilst the likes of Welbeck and Sturridge prove themselves properly and we're waiting for someone else to come through.

Wilshere looked a cut above everyone else on the pitch. Rooney was mediocre as usual in an England shirt, Gerrard's past it. Cleverley was a bit hit and miss. Walcott is better than the one trick pony he sometimes tries to be, probably because he's encouraged to do so.

Should have dicked all over Scotland, but that's England's under-achievers. And Scotland had decent play, were well up for it and scored a couple of good goals, courtesy of piss poor keeping and defending from Hart and Cahill.

I had heard Wilshere tired quickly?

I think Lambert is as good a stop gap you could pray for! Last season he spanked the other english strikers stats wise! most shots on target, most league goals, etc, Hes good in the air and in open play! He could be the work horse needed to kick other team mates rears into gear!

Most people whos opinions I am blessed to hear worry about Englands strikers but I think this games shows you can put them away.. As I said on the TB I think Hart needs someone to force him to fight for his place other wise hes gonna go way downhill! Just out of a sub-par season and a performance like that to start it! Failed pretty badly against Arsenal in their friendly too I heard.

Superb evening. Great game, and even up in the Gods the England fans were uncharacteristically in fine voice.

Bring back the Home Internationals and cancel all other world football.
