RFC Spam

by Elm Park Kid » 31 Jul 2013 14:35

Is it just me or has the level of commercial stuff from RFC got a bit ridiculous? I seem to get daily e-mails from them trying to sell me something or other. I know that you've got new kits - you've told me 100 times now!

I would untick the communication option but there's a few bits and pieces over the season that I want to know about - like the free tickets to Newbury racecourse.

business trying to sell itself to maximise its revenues :o

dont know about you but i have all my emails from commercial entities go into a single folder, and barely scan them once every few days. so not only does it have no negative effect on me whatsoever im actually happy and glad that my club is doing this kind of thing. it means more money, and it means a better team and bigger club.

my only problem is that you get the same information through facebook, twitter, email, and on the club site, as well as on here
but i dont get annoyed cos thats down to me following the club through all of those forums, rather than the volume of stuff coming from the club.

The point is they're sending too many emails.

Your point is valid brendy, but even you must realise there's a "sweet spot" for communication - send too many and you'll delete most of them, send perhaps two a week and chances are they'll get read. TBF to RFC few businesses get this right but I think the OPs point is a valid one.

Good point.

However, I would be happy to receive an e-mail from the club about:

a) An item of kit or clothing in the club shop that is not a complete embarrassment in both style and quality

b) An offer upon which 'the matchday experience' is based on service, quality & value (I mean genuinely, not just written in the advert)

c) A decision to let local breweries take turns pitching up outside the East Stand for each game to give us the chance of drinking anything other than the poison which takes 20 minutes and £4 to extract from the bars in the concourse
