One or two iffy moments but a draw is a solid result for us going over there. Think England may have won it had all the squad been fit and available, Lambert was understandably toiling a bit in the 2nd half and we were always going to be light up front so it was never likely to become an attacking display. A point each was about right.

Average performance.

Motm = Gary Cahill

Gerrard was anonymous, Wilshire just falls over all the time. Lampard the pick of the central 3 for me.

Cahill was MOTM for England, poor display from Wiltshire who is arguably England's best player normally. Stevie G was very quiet ( also his close ball controll is shocking) as with lampard. Walker seems to be getting better every time I see him.

Ohh 1 more thing........ Hart is crap, poor decision making, poor timing and generally poor all round

I thought was one of the worst players out there today

Milner worked hard and Cahill was by far our MOM

What on earth was everyone expecting. England are limited in terms of flair players and at the moment a lot of the players that would be up for selection are injured or suspended.

As a result the plan of action was to avoid defeat which they managed and most of us would have taken before kick off.

When it comes down to it until we start getting players through who are more comfortable with the ball we're going to struggle and even more so when there are injuries etc.

Poor performance, but I think the disappointing thing is that Ukraine were also pretty poor and if we'd of played better they were there for the taking. Not sure how they are running us so close in qualifying.

I was surprised there was no comment about their crunching tackles combined with cheating dives from Ukraine, all very cynical. Their pen shout was a dive as well as when Lambert squared up to the cheat. Meanwhile Walcott gets taken out with a horrendous challenge that could of seriously injured him, and other lunges that the players managed to avoid contact.

The ref seemed to be whistle happy for free kicks for any contact but really let Ukraine off with some of their challenges.

We were suffering from not having a proper link player for the strikers, made for a pretty dull game as Ukraine really weren't much of a threat

My thoughts.

Cahill = MOTM. No question. No-one else comes close.
Kyle Walker is a lucky boy after that challenge. Also gets caught upfield too often. Gerrard did a good job of tracking back to support him.
Not sure what is up with Joe Hart but something is. He needs to get his confidence back and fast.
Our attack looked utterly toothless. Walcott can be so wasteful.

I feel that may be a tad one-eyed.

(Agreed re the Lambert one tho'.)

There was one on the Ukrainian #10 from Milner that was as bad as anything they gave out. In the end, the Ukrainian attack petered out as he was their tidiest player by a long shot and the left midfielder turned to find him still on the floor.

Bad: Wilshere, Walker, Walcott
Good: Cahill
Rest: Average

Konoplianka looks a real player. Surprised he's still at Dnipro.

Surely Lampard has to be on the top line?

Yes, it was a bit of a shocker that seeing an England manager explaining that his average team had played another average team who were about as average as each other and thus the game ended in a draw. Must be a devil of a job making that interesting enough to sell papers and get folk involved - Hodgson probably isn't used to dealing with such insightful football experts being as he's new to the game.

Very Bad: Young. The difference in impact that Young and Bezus made when introduced was laughable.

Impressed with Konoplianka too.
