Winchester Royal Can see why the ref gave it, given it ended up in the back of the net.

stealthpapes I was playing football in Dublin and a shot did the opposite, went through a hole at the base of the post.
Keeper stood up and went "went wide, goal kick" and the ref accepted it.
The next corner, two blokes shoulder barged him and the ball into the back of the net.![]()

soggy biscuit I thought it was 'phantom goal'? what has a ghost got to do with this?
Will it become poltergeist goal at some point?

6ft Kerplunk Felt a bit sorry for the asst ref with the one last night. When they stopped the TV footage on the overhead cam there was no visible gap betwen the crossbar and the ball so not exactly a clearcut thing in realtime. But did raise the question are goalposts wider the the goalline?

Big Foot Talking of goals where the ball hits an advertising board and then bounces back out - I'm sure that in the late 90s, Leeds won at Southampton 3-0 (Michael Bridges hat-trick IIRC, distinctly remember him doing an Andy Johnson style burger eating celebration as he was a bit chubby) & Mark Hughes thumped the ball home from a set piece, only for the ball to hit an ad board and bounce back out - no goal given.
