2014 World Cup Finals Draw

by Barry the bird boggler » 22 Nov 2013 17:23

Will be on Friday 6th December

Pot 1

Brazil
Spain
Germany
Uruguay
Argentina
Switzerland
Belgium
Colombia

Pot 2

USA
Costa Rica
Honduras
Mexico
Iran
South Korea
Japan
Australia

Pot 3

Ghana
Nigeria
Algeria
Ivory Coast
Cameroon
Chile
Ecuador
France

Pot 4

Netherlands
England
Italy
Greece
Croatia
Russia
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Portugal

Now you can have 2 weeks aimless speculation as to the best/worst draws possible for England

For example being lumbered with Brazil, France, South Korea wouldn't be good but getting Switzerland, Honduras and Algeria could be mildly amusing - especially if we can rise to the challenge laid down to the last group stage we went through at a World Cup finals....

GOOD: England, Ecuador, Iran, Switzerland

BAD: England, Chile, Mexico, Germany

UGLY: England, France, USA, Brazil

I would actually like to see the Ugly group happen. What a cracking group that would be. We'd be guaranteed three high-tension games. Plus, we always struggle with the so-called easy groups. I'd rather like to see us get a tough one for a change. The Ecuador, Iran, Switzerland group would be dull, we'd probably struggle through it, finish second and get knocked out the next round. If we got out of a tougher group it would give us a better chance of going further, I think.
