Can we merge?

Any ideas for pubs for those going by train?

Station -> The Evening Star (1 min) Best beer in Brighton, perfect for a quick one before moving on

Evening Star -> Post & Telegraph (5 mins) New Wetherspoons, well done out for one too, cheap food & booze

P&T -> Bus Stop for Number 25 bus to Ground (1 min) Bus to Falmer (it will say Universities), and I believe it may even be free with a match ticket, but need to check

May go to the "Post and Telegraph" then and get train up to ground

Wetherspoons have their place, and I'm certainly not in the business of habitually knocking them.

But they're not somewhere I'd make a beeline for when drinking in a different town. You can do better than that can't you guys :?:

The Rouge can suggest some pretty decent Brighton boozers IIRC.

I agree its good to sample other establishments, but can't ignore beer + burger + double scotch for under a tenner. May move elsewhere after that if time.

If you want something different close to station try the Earth & Stars on the corner of Windsor st & York street. Slightly quirky, friendly, good smoking on roof.

Ye Olde King & Queen on Marlboro Place, near Brighton Dome, is a magnificent old boozer, with an outstanding period garden. Bus to ground right outside also.

But I can get smashed and eat microwaved food at home.

If that's all you're after (and nothing wrong with that at all, btw) why bother going all the way to Brighton for it?

The Cow, Dyke Road, BN1 3JE well known for their carveries and great food but a good boozer too. Ran by a Ben Murray

Was thinking of parking in Lewes early doors
Train to Brighton for a few beers pre-match
Train to Falmer for match
Train from Falmer to Lewes after match.....

Thoughts?
