Mark Clattenburg

by Whore Jackie » 03 Jan 2014 12:52

Apparently under investigation again, after Southampton complained about his use of "abusive and insulting" language against their captain Adam Lallana.

Mauricio Pochettino I don't mean any disrespect against any referees, but anyone watching the game can see there were two clear penalties that weren't given or should have been given ... We don't want to be judged by our young, handsome, good-looking players. We just want what's fair.

Does anyone know what Pochettino's English is like?

You'd think after a year in the job he would at least be able to give an interview without his mate stood there next to him.

Apparently it's actually quite good, but he prefers to keep his interpr8r so he can be more articul8 or summit. Do we know what Clatters allegedly said?

^ This + he doesn't want to be caught out if he gets flustered on the spot or if people read into it too much if he delays a response while fully working it out himself.

Well...

I don't know what he said, BUT, you can sure as hell bet, it's not half as bad as what some players say to them.

I think managers and especially players need to MTFU and shut up.

Indeed - if this goes anywhere than I'd hope the PGMO would enforce a zero tolerance policy towards swearing on the players.

Claims that Clattenburg called the Southampton midfielder "Lal-LanaDelRey" in response to Lallana's jibe of "Mark Batty-burg".

Yea, I still don't understand why players are allowed so much leeway. I know that from 5 years ago things have marginally improved.

But I still get frustrated watching a referee walk backwards as about 10 players are walking towards him. I'd be more than happy for "only captains can talk to ref" policy - not sure that would work actually, but definitely more strict rules on it.

Apparently all Clatternbury said was that Lallana had changed since being called up to England squad. Seems reasonable, especially if he was being an abusive little twunt to the ref.

According to SSN, Clattenburg has no case to answer. Also, apparently Clattenburg "accused" Lallana of changing since he made his England debut - shock horror! Can't believe he said that... of course, it's probably true and I couldn't give a toss if he did say that.

I'm more pee'd off that Southampton won't come out and just say what their issue is. Watching their press conference it was painful, all very secretive and no comment on what they were complaining against.

If you decide to complain against the official - which I think is a bloody big deal - you should have the sense, integrity, transparency and balls to come out and just say why you're not happy.

If clubs make these complaints and there's "no case", I think they should be punished. I don't see refs coming out publically in interviews and saying "I'm annoyed at Rooney - I'm complaining, but I'm not saying why" - how is that fair? They are far more professional than that, yet football managers and players get away with it.

He has become a lot more like Lana Del Rey since that Chile game though.

I thought there was something like this suggested not that long ago.

Always thought Clattenburg was dodgy jumped up gob shite. Seems this news justifies Chelsea reporting him.

Whichever way you look at it, being reported twice doesn't look good.

Is Adam Lallana still the saviour of English football, or has that moved onto someone else this week?

More than twice m9

Everton reported him for apparently sending off a player after Steven Gerrard "convinced" him it was red

He was suspended by the league and then sacked for dodgy dealings....only to be reinstated after clearing his name

The Spurs "goal" at Man Utd where the ball was about 5 yards over the line

Then when Nani scored after putting his hand on the ball and Gomez putting it down to take a free kick, only for Nani to tap it in

He's a good ref though

However - The reason for the complaint is absolutely pathetic and embarrasses Southampton. What an absolute cry baby!

From a referee perspective it was no doubt just banter. They want refs to have personalities and more human and the first sniff of that happening this goes on!

Embarrassing.
