The problem will be the (mainly British) players, seeing as most are essentially chavvy, uneducated scummers.

I really cant see fans giving a fook if one of their players come out.
The player would get some abuse early doors from opposition fans, but that would just be oppo fans having any reason to personalise an insult. And that would soon stop.

I mostly agree with this, though I think you are being unfair to the chavvy, uneducated scummers. The problem will be if the player on the fringes of the first team came out and the influential captain wasn't happy about it. The other players then might not want to risk being the bullied.
