SPARTA
bracksroyal10 Sorry but for those suggesting Drenthe's contract should be cancelled, you are stupid.

He was the only player in our side who in any way had an effect on the game against Brighton and besides Federici for me he was our man of the match even though he came on as a sub which is quite concerning. He seemed like the only player who really cared fought for everything when he was on the pitch.

Only Guthrie and HRK would come close in terms of creativity, and that is if they are having a good day.

We have the squad to do well, the bottom line is that this squad are more than good enough to take us back up but the last few games the passion hasn't been there.

I especially loved him arguing with Crosby and telling him to stick his tactics. That's just what we need!

I'd bin him. Massively expensive, little to no end product and disrespectful to the coaching staff. He's a bag of problems we can do without!

He has passion and ability. If we can use him properly. He cares! I like that. I just think we need someone in the midfield who gets the tempo of the side going. Guthrie should be doing that but he has lost his fizz.. I do not think he is fit. Not sure we have much in the way of creativity apart from him. Creativity is OUR problem and I suppose confidence. We have had a poor creative midfield for a long time now. If we had Jem that would help but we don't. We need to use Royston. He is our class. He is like Mass Sarr but actually much better.

I do agree, but you can have that and be respectful at the same time. Adkins said recently the players aren't carrying out his tactics, and there's a great example. Like him or not, he's a big time Charlie and if there's more than one of him in the dressing room then that may well explain away a lot of our problems.

Divisive character as he may be, we're much stronger with him in the side than not - his set pieces are miles better than those of Guthrie (who was it took the free kick for Kelly to score against Forest?) and you always feel like we offer a much bigger threat with him on the pitch than not. His effort levels on the pitch seem pretty high, like he wants to prove himself (albeit he has seemed a bit lethargic during the pre-match warm up for the last couple of games, perhaps because he's been on the bench?) and make a success of his time here.

I didn't notice the disagreement with Crosby on Saturday, but I'm not quite sure how anyone can be certain that he told him to "stick his tactics" from half the length of the pitch away....he could have just misunderstood what they wanted him to do and been venting his frustration....not much wrong with that in my eyes, at least he is showing some passion which is more than can be said for some of the team.....

Dellor and Gooding were only a couple of rows back from the dugout and ran commentary on it. Crosby wanted him to track back and pick his marker IIRC but Drenthe refused point blank, they both raised their voices and Drenthe waved him away and dismissed him. They agreed it showed passion but that it was also something ou don't want to see out there..

Agree on the set-pieces as well. Guthrie's are pretty poor. The corners especially.

Ik hou van Royston omdat hij uit Nederland komt.

I was at the game last Saturday and I don't know about anyone else who was there but apart from Royston, I didn't really see anyone trying to grab the game by the scruff of its neck and make a difference. Blackman was probably the closest although very rarely did someone pick up the ball with any intent.

Felt we were playing extremely deep as a team up until Drenthe came on he brought players into the game and suddenly others such as Obita/Guthrie were trying to make it happen for the team going forward.

We just look as if we are in a total mess this season(and the end of last season)-yet on paper we have as good a squad as any in the Championship-the problem has to be Adkins and his coaching squad-I am dead against sacking Managers just as a knee jerk reaction to a few losses-but once a Manager loses the dressing room its all over for them, and Adkins has completely failed to impose what he wants to achieve. It's the same with Moyes @ Man U.

Problem is there is no one in authority at the Club who will sack him-why the Baggies are even remotely interested is beyond me-be interesting if Steve Clarke came our way though, if Adkins was to go to WBA.

With this squad-minus McCarthy(for big money) plus say a creative midfielder plus signing Baird-we could still have a steady season. As it is we are sliding down.

Reading FC transfer news: Royal boss Nigel Adkins says he does not expect to do any business until a takeover of the club is complete.

Adkins is keen to strengthen his squad but admits his hands are tied until new investment is secured at Reading.

Here's what he's had to say.

“There’s nothing I can report on I’m afraid.

“Things are going on behind the scenes and we need to let the hierarchy sort it out.

“Until it’s all organised we have to wait "

Bullshit

Dave-Royal Nigel Adkins Wont last long here at reading fc the worst manager we had so far.

Dickhead! How old are you? 5? What do you know about football? Bullivant and Burns (god rest his soul) couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery let alone run RFC. Things have been rather crap for 18 months now. We were lucky to go up and lucky not to finish bottom of the pl. It takes time to rebuild. Patience needed. Little boys cannot always get what they want. This season is rebuilding. Enjoy it! Play offs will be a bonus.

Are you Chinese? I worry about your English. Sorry to be a pedant, but you need work on spelling, grammar and punctuation. No NA is the right man to take the club forward. We are changing. Yes if the buyout fails we are in trouble. In that case we will need 50 maybe 60 points to avoid the drop (if we were to need administration)

I see Nicky Maynard is in talks with Wigan. Always rated him and would be something to different to what we've got. Much better option than Sharp imo.

obviously one of our regular wind up merchants. Ignore him (after sarcastically putting him right if you feel like it).

It's good to see a Contributor who has as little ability at English as most contributors have at the reality of football. Dave-Royal is to English what most of the site is to reality! I, for one, welcome his gibberish!
