I've never liked Southampton since the 2011 home game where a bunch of their yobbos stole my missus's hat and wouldn't give it back :(

How likely is it that Saints will implode and suffer a huge fall from grace?

Seems like there could be a potential situation like that at Wolves when the Hayward family started a war due to (in his children's opinion) the overly generous investment from Sir Jack. Katharina Liebherr says the players won't be sold blah blah but she knows that some of them (Shaw etc) could command hefty transfer fees for the club. It's probably more likely they'll have to scale their ambitions back to something within reason than to sink like a stone.

Bolton seem to be the best candidate for that, in spite of Gartside's apparent commitment to the club.

And that's probably a sensible thing to do. I seem to remember that they were one of Europe's leading spenders the season after we both got promoted. No way a club of their size could sustain that longer term. Perhaps they have learnt something from their neighbours.

soggy biscuit cup game back in the mid 90's when Lee No-guns scored the winner and the southbank loudly chanted 'he's got a f***ing big nose' at Le Tissier

The Le Tissier taunt was dreamt up by West Ham and Sky didn't reduce the volume quickly enough one evening at a televised game when the word f*****g was followed by "big nose".
I have lived and worked in and near Southampton for 40 years and seen them from being one of the dirtiest sides ever in the 70s to FA Cup winners to being skint and relegated to climbing back up again.
Over the years we have rarely been in the same division so there is not much rivalry.
I have always admired their success with recruiting youngsters from far and wide at times to the detriment of our club and we are still about 20 years behind in that area of operation.

As with most other clubs I am ambivalent about them and Pompey and Oxford and Swindon but Bournemouth will remain forever on my dislike list along with obvious others such as Man Utd and Leeds.
