P!ssed Off Can't say it bothers me too much.
I'm able to celebrate a goal with or without a bit of music.
I'm flexible like that.

I suspect this is a generation thing tbh.

Those of us who've grown up with it probably can't see the problem with it, while those of us who remember the roar and surge of the crowd on the terraces are left thinking "why do I still come and watch this".

Tbf I've only known goal music and it's STILL shit. It was fun when I was 8, now I go to away games and I've been in some great celebrations, I despise it.

Started going in '98.
I'm fairly sure goal music was introduced 10 years ago at most.

When was it introduced then?
All I'm saying is I've experienced with and without. Unless I've forgotten 5+ years of goal music.

In terms of your timescale PO I think you're about right. Wigan were the first I think when Tom Hark was doing the rounds.

Tried to look it up online. Someone on a forum said 2004 was when it started, which sounds about right.

So as I said, Greeners, the first 6 years I watched Reading (20+ times a season) there was no goal music.
So put your 'generation' card away. Or use it on the likes of Will95 if you must.

Sorry didn't mean to touch a nerve, just meant it's inseparable from the out of town all seater stadia experience in my mind.

Did introducing goal music make much difference in 200x then? TBF I can well imagine it didn't really which I guess is your point.

Don't recall it having a significant impact.

Depends if I hate/like the song in general for me I suppose:
First song was decent, didn't mind it. (Tom Hark one) Bit too generic.

Then we experimented with a shit song for 6 months or so. That one really pissed me off. It was rubbish.

Like the current song - 'Chase The Sun - Planet Funk'. You might say it's generic darts shit, but I recall it being played pre-match for quite a few years, as well as being part of the BBC Berks coverage, so I already associated the song with Reading FC. Much like Embrace - Ashes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtQ9l0oQmXE

The best ever music was the Royals Megamix as played at PAP and created by (RIP) Royal Yank.

If the goal music was scrapped, would you miserable buggers actually sing?
