West London Clubs

by SHORT AND CURLY » 18 Feb 2014 06:33

I have come to the conclusion that West London clubs are mainly Basket Cases.

I give you Fulham. Michael Jackson statue, The Board who don't really know what to do with the ex manager etc and looking at sorting out a financial package for Wilkins Curbishly etc (who they have recently appointed!)

CheLOLsea . Sack every manager who loses two or three in a row. Have a current one who was sacked for failure, yet re employ, because he is apparently better than the other failures. Throw money around like its confetti

QPR Well where do you start here. Small crowds, sign anything that kicks a ball and big players on big wages who play as individuals. (Probably want to sign Mcleary now he had a good game against them.)

I think all three are trying to out stupid each other.

I await for Brentford to go the same way

We may be rubbish at times but at least there is a degree of sanity at Reading

Agreed. Although think how much more fun it would be to support the clubs you mentioned. Much better match day experience as the grounds aren't in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do.

"match day experience"?
Typical Chelsea/Man Utd plastic buying into the concept that it is an "experience"-it's a f*****g football match m8, not a helicopter ride or a day at Legoland.
Presumably you just love your couple of outings to SW6 every season just so that you can pat the police horses and enjoy the crush to get on the tube?
" matchday experience" what a joke.

Didn't Ron Noades buy Brentford and install himself as manager?

RattLOLed.

Stamford Bridge is excellent. Lots of pubs nearby as with all London grounds. Old Trafford is decent, lots of pubs/working mens club nearby. All geared up for football.

There is literally nothing to do at the Madejski, except drink the awful beer in the concourse, or drink in that sterile hotel. Of course, you can always pop in B & Q or Oak Furniture Land.

Worth mentioning the hooligan problems at Yeading.

Matchday sees scores of fans on the Kingshill Avenue chanting "We're Yeading, we're Yeading, we'll kick your fooking head in". And they would, too.

Who cares about pubs?
It's the football that counts.

Each to their own. I supposed if you go to away games, it's a flask and a packed lunch in the car, straight into the ground for you. I'd prefer to get there early and see a bit of the town or city, have a beer or three and some lunch in pub/restaurant.

Why can't you do the above as an away fan when you come to watch your team play Reading? There is all of a 10 - 15 min bus/taxi ride to consider.

Have you seen the queues for buses and taxis after the game?

I don't often agree with Kes but he's bang on the money here.

Reading are on tele about 4-5 times per season so not enough for me.
Over the years I have always driven to games so having a few beers doesn't feature in the "matchday experience".
Oh and mind your own f*****g business and don't tell me what I can and can't do.

In reply to Kes,

Funny you should say about the flask because ,since my mum died,I do have a tea in the car parked up in Whitley before heading off to the game, as does my mate who travels up from Gillingham but his routine normally includes a full English on the way.
The same goes for away games although this season I'll probably end up only going to 4 of those-my days of going from the south coast to places like Middlesborough or even Leeds or Sheffield for a night game are now a thing of the past.
When I read some of the posts on here it is quite clear that many haven't a clue what really happened at games because of being off their heads.

LOL who gives fcuk if away fans have a good time at our ground? Personally I want them to have the most miserable time they've ever had.

I think the issue is that the home fans have the same experience.

Not really.

Home games are always going to be different to away games because different aspects of support attend them. If you asked the majority of those people who go to the Madejski on Saturday afternoon whether they enjoy the "match day experience" and what that represents they will most likely say yes.

When you go away the most are just lads out for a good time, find the nearest pub get pissed and the football is almost secondary that is the match day experience they expect and are looking for.
