I really don't think that's the way to run a football club, requires much more of a team mentality than cricket. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it though?

As for wanting to ensure certain things do or don't happen post sale, I am pretty sure you can insert conditions in any contract for sale (within the bounds of reasonableness). However, how easy it would be to enforce such undertakings post sale is another matter.

Of course a contract can say anything that both parties agree on, my point was that the BUYER has no need to make post sale conditions.

If we are talking TSI, then as long as the contract was legal of course they could have their 2 year consultancy.
Frankly none of us have any influence, none of us actually know what is on the table and it's not us making any decisions. In many ways I'd suggest everyone taking the summer off and come back in August when it will be all done and dusted and we'll know where we stand.

Nameless The IPL is nothing like our league. Clubs sign players on very short term deals and are pretty much set up from scratch each season. There is no reason to think any further ahead than the current season. You would hope someone getting involved in football would have done a tiny bit of research....

If hes willing to bankroll that scenario, with his money and not lead to a huge debt for the club, I'd be more than happy to see 11/12 top quality players coming in on one year contracts and fly through the Championship. Whether they all gel or not will be the issue and we will be considered to be the new QPR but worse.

Top quality players don't need to sign 1 year contracts. Or if they do you would pay huge amounts.
And of course there would be no guarantee it would work, I'd probably not even bother going to games if we went down that route, it would be horrible IMHO.

Isn't that essentially what Donny tried to do? Obvs not 'top quality', but biggish names on short term contracts.

St. Brynjar From what I've heard nothing will happen for quite a long time. Apparently Samuelson is being much more cooperative than is being made out here, it's SJM who is the problem. He won't give up the naming rights to the stadium, and is holding out for an actual fee when the TSI people are happy to take the quid and dash. Sagi's offer is preferred because A) he's richer and B) his offer is much less complicated despite the idea of a shopping center etc. since Burman's requires the rebranding of the club to Reading Royals within 5 years and to put all Cat 1 academy progress on hold. There's also a worry that he'll do an Anton.

This is all from a friend of Wood-Smith's, so take it with a pinch of salt. He's been wrong about things before!

Bollocks

As the football league have set a precedent re rebranding thta's absolute balls

Also, what does "he won't give up naming rights to the stadium" mean? The stadium is named after Madejski but that doesn't mea he has naming rights

They're waiting for a final decision by the Hobnob on who they want - can't believe no-one has initiated a poll yet!

There won't be a buyout/takeover until every last liquid asset has been converted into cash and squirreled away to some untraceable account somewhere in the name of someone. Then the club can be offered with all valuable assets having been already stripped.

Fit and proper person test  Question - What does that consist of then? Answer - 20 press ups and a recital of the first verse of the National Anthem.

Presumably he could insist on a covenant that meant the ground had to be called 'Madejski Stadium' for a period of 25 years or something, and that no other name could be added.

As I said earlier, there seems no reason why he would scupper a sale purely on that. Except amongst the raving conspiracy theorist community....

I would concur with this bit. My good source defienitley stated that thr Russians were being cooperative but Madejski wasn't - hence the Omani takeover fall through. I won't mention one of the ridiculous clauses he tried to put in there..

Nameless Never easy to sort the wheat from the chaff !

I could imagine the respective buyers being asked to outline their plans for the club, but if the deal is for a 100% purchase then the buyers have no need to place conditions like these.

If SJM is making things difficult you have to hope it is just a negotiating stance, there is no reason I can see for him to kill every deal over minor things like the name of the stadium.

Granted 'If'

No reason you can see? Minor thing? I give you EGO!

.

he can no longer afford an EGO
he can barely afford some lego

Have you seen the price of Lego?? Sticklebricks are a far more cost effective play route....

However, maybe we can do a cross marketing deal with Lego and build the stadium expansion out of blue white (and a few red) 2 x 4 pieces!!

If we get relegated we can put a few Lego men in those seats to make it look like there's more of a crowd!!

Also will expand our support base into English league loving Scandinavia... Lots of hot Danish hotties coming to the erbyskerbystad together with the backing of a highly successful brand, which leads to further Danish investment by Carlsberg.. so the beer improves in the stands... Sales of new 'horned' Reading FC hats and platted blonde wigs go through the roof...

Net result ----> Financial problems solved.... Fans happy due to better beer, football and eye quality of support + pre-season trips to Scandinavia, when the weather there is at its best!!

No wonder the Commercial Director got the bullet - Just did not have the vision!!

Will people turn on JM if it turns out the reason we're still in the shit is because he doesn't want the name of the stadium to change?
