Guess it doesn't matter. It was only mainly Italians who died that day.

Good to see that the Liverpool Fc website is remembering the sad event and a wreath has been laid under the permanent plaque at the ground that was erected as a token of remembrance for those that died.
As has been said a lot recently fans should not lose their lives at a football ground whether that be at Bradford, Sheffield,Heysel, Ibrox or in Egypt.

I thought this was going to be a post by Kes telling us when he discovered what his right hand was for and has been forever grateful even if it is now making him go blind through excessive use.

I remember we were on a school trip to Wales and had been on at the teachers all week to let us watch it. They set a tv up in the common room, we all sat round, switched it on only for the teacher to switch it back off in under 5 seconds.

A rather sensible article by a Liverpool fan here:

I remember watching it all unfold live on TV. Very sad times

RIP

TBF - Liverpool FC did a nice tweet this morning. However, my news feed on FB was unusually quiet with the Liverpool fans this morning, unlike the anniversary of Hillsborough..

As that article says, it's to nobody's credit that there has been a lot of silence and denial about Heysel.

...and if it weren't for bad luck...there would be no luck at all for this fellah.

elements of truth possibly mixed up with his supposition and fantasy...a long and possibly questionable account of events.

(If true) a product typical of the 1980's pack hound mentality....

I digress......if Reading fans back in the 1970's had been a little more (ahem) harder...we would've possibly seen something tragic at Elm park versus Portsmouth...walls collapsing...South Bank taken etc......stampedes down the side roads....Readingers running for their skins on Oxford Road...I now work with one of the twats that was chasing me 36 years ago.....my, how we laugh now

That's a very well written article, Kes. It makes a lot of very salient points. You might want to consider this one.

Actually, they might have a point, even if they raise it out of malice rather than consideration for the bereaved.

Whatever cause you think you further on here, you should consider that other football fans - whether on here or not - are personally affected by Hillsborough, Heysel, Bradford, stabbings in Istanbul and so on, and not be entertained by the impact your keyboard has on complete strangers, at the expense of the memory of those tragically killed.

Football editor of The Times gave an insightful interview on Heysel yesterday. He was just a Liverpool fan at the time and was out there. Said he did things 'he wasn't proud of' at the game and explained the build up to the violence

Can't blame you for not clicking on it, you probably assumed it was along similar lines to the rabid nonsense Kes normally posts about Liverpool.
