BM sent messages to a mate/fellow fan/nobber when his father died, just before our promotion, which he kept up over a few months afterwards
the bloke was a gent, a genuinely lovely bloke.

and is seen as such by almost all who come into contact with him.
thats good enough for me

I wouldn't accept any criticism of McDermott's character tbh.

I know people who work in the stadium in the maintenance etc who said that towards the end of his time as manager he became a bit of an arse. Was probably due to the pressure on him at the time but still, said Adkins coming in was a breath of fresh air and a lot more positive and always having time to interact with staff.

I heard that Steve Coppell used to physically assault the kitchen staff if his toad in the hole wasn't crispy enough.

Even if that was true, which I highly doubt, you do realise that people who work in maintenance at every workplace think everyone hates them?

Bigger victim complex than the whole of Merseyside.

Terry Bullivant used to park his taxi in the parent and child parking spaces. He didn't even have a child with him most of the time.

Mark McGhee used to leave half drunk cans of Irn-Bru around Elm Park. He'd open one, put it down somewhere, forget about it and open another one.

Alan Pardew used to sleep with players' wives.

They all had their flaws.

No, it was with a shemale. Like what your dad became after I had him in a park.

I liked Brian but I didn't agree with his views on the Semitic people.

He was under a lot of pressure, maybe the difference between McDermott and Adkins is the fact that McDermott was in his first role at a club he loved and desperately wanted/needed to succeed. Adkins has been in the game long enough to know win or lose you will eventually get the sack so no point stressing about it, just do your best and accept the sack and accompanying pay check when it comes along.

I sat next to Brian on a plane once and he spent the entire journey watching the flight map.

I once spent an evening at a local restaurant within earshot of Brian. He spent nearly 3 and a half hours regaling his dinner guests with those corny Chuck Norris jokes, but each time changing the name to Brian McDermott.

Well he was right on at least one count then. And I don't give a toss about bounty bars.
