England Fans - Euro 2016

by Unbelievable Jeff » 14 Jul 2014 19:35

Not sure if there is a thread similar to this but...

With the 2016 Euros in France on the horizon are there any Reading fans on here that are looking to make the trip?

I've been looking to go with a few mates but it seems like we'll have trouble getting tickets due to the lack of England games we have been too.

Is there anyone that can shed some light on how tickets for the finals can be obtained through previous experience of these tournaments?

You apply online.

If done as per Euro 2012 there'll be one phase allowing people to apply for games before the draw is made (via a ballot) and a 2nd phase after the draw (also a ballot)

Any remaining tickets (very few, probably) will be sold on a first come, first served basis

Beyond that your only choices are via reputable ticket re-selling sites (expensive), less well-known sites (probably a scam) and touts on the day.

One drawback is that UEFA tend to be crap at blocking multiple applications (not allowed under the application rules) so loads from France will no doubt apply for dozens of tickets, with the intention of selling them on the black market.

Hoping England fail to qualify so we can have another round of stupid ideas suggested by the FA that will enable us to (not) win the 2026 world cup and put the English game back on top.

Myself and a group of m8s were looking at going and basing ourselves in Lille or Lens I think and then taking our chances with whatever tickets we could get for games there.

Is there any info on when you can enter the ballot for tickets yet?

Just had a quick google, and it appears Spring 2015 is when tickets go on sale according to UEFA's website. Hospitality's available though!

I'm gonna cycle there, on the pavement or just in the way of french cars.
Hoping Ireland qualify so i can support 2 teams which will give me more chance of being able to cycle somewhere nearest England.
I won't be buying tickets before I go.

Basing in either of them two cities would make sense being closest to England, I think our plan was to wait until some more info about the fan parks and game locations etc. are released to decide where we will base ourselves.

One idea was to hire a motor home for a couple of weeks and drive around the country going to any games we could get tickets for and just explore what France has to offer. Also with estimated workings it would work out cheaper than getting hotels for that time period split between 5 or 6 of us.

It's always been on my 'bucket list' to watch England in a tournament (other than Euro '96) and i'm certainly not going to Russia or Qatar so this is probably it, (assuming they qualify).

Is there any point in joining the England membership scheme or will that route already be oversubscribed with people with sufficient 'loyalty points'?

Isn't there going to be more teams this time out? 32?

ETA: Sorry, its 24 up from 16 apparently. So almost half of the teams that enter will qualify.

Why not Russia? It'll probably be easy to get tickets for England games there as the distance will see the "lads weekend" types pretty much ruled out.

There's two stadia up in the north east, plus paris is half a day away.

I'm thinking about it, but down in the south. Marseille/Toulouse/Nice/Bordeaux. Pick games a few days apart and get on the bike.

I probably won't bother with there as already been, in 2007 8)

To far to go, to great a distance between games, less fan friendly

What a massive fcuking waste of money following England. I'd probably go to games that didn't involve England though.
