Generosity of Reading FC

by arthurfondrelli » 17 Jul 2014 14:10

It was my 21st birthday not long ago, and unknown to me my mum sent a letter to RFC asking if they could perhaps just acknowledge it in some way like putting my name up on the big screen or something.

Instead, they sent me and RFC pennant hand signed by pretty much the whole first team, which is obviously a great gesture.

Have you ever had any similar treatments to this? Or any negative ones?

Nothing to do with RFC, but Jamie Cureton sent me a letter wishing me good luck on my wedding day.

The club broke their own policy and refunded my Dad's season ticket after only a couple of games when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and the chemo meant he had to avoid contact with people.

My daughter was mascot at the Chelsea home game in 2013 and my son was mascot at Man Utd in the FA Cup (also in 2013). For their Christmas pressie I got the photos framed with an engraved plaque on it. I sent an email to customer services asking if there was any chance that Jobi could sign it as he was Captain for both games. Got a message back asking me to drop it off at the stadium reception and they would see what they could do. I left it on the Wednesday and got a phone call on Thursday asking me to collect it. When I picked it up i found that the receptionist had taken it to Hogwood and got most of the team that played in those two games to sign it. A great piece of memorabilia and a brilliant bit of PR as far as I am concerned.

It's the least they can do given all the spin and PR you do for them brendy.

Going back a bit, I once got a letter from Shaka when I was 5 or 6 reassuring me that he wasn't leaving after there were rumours about him joining Forest, still have it somewhere.

Of course he never mentioned anything about joining Newcastle, the git.

Great thread. One of the many reasons I love RFC
