Retiring from international football aged 30.

Can't believe he's only 30, I'd have put him at about 35/36 in my mind

Simply superb player. Didn't he play both LB and RB across those tournaments? And obviously midfield as this last time too.

absolute legend! have been a massive fan of his since WC 2006. yes he did play RB/LB for most of his life and the last year due to issues in bayerns midfield he has played as the DM. (which he played in germany for the first few matches as well, when he should have been LB from the beginning and let the khedira/schweinsteiger partnership flourish)
