Blue seats

by Harpers So Solid Crew » 29 Sep 2014 02:45

rather a lot for a game that was sort of attractive, Wolves had all the away end but looked like around 2500 ish actually attended.

Just a thought but for a game on the telly would it have made sense to have made it £10 a ticket?

Overall we dont seem to be getting that many non ST holders to games, is this due to price? Or do we really just not have that mnay fans?

17.5k is a drop on last year's average which was around 19k. Our current average is 16k. This will of course pick up at the end of the season if there's still something to play for.

That said, 17.5k is still in the top half of league attendances.

Thought it was a poor showing from a "big club" like Wolves...

Sure why to annoy your STH is to sell everyone else tickets at less than the committed regulars pay....
Giving every STH a free ticket to bring a friend might have worked, we could then have given Wolves Gate 9 and had Reading fans in 10.

Not the most attractive away fixture for them and (in these times of austerity) it was on TV.

In these times of austerity everyone has cancelled their Sky subscriptions.... (Was it Sky showing it ?)

They brought 12 coaches so I suspect lack of suitable trains was more of an issue than playing an ex Premiership team with lengthy of history with them over the last 20 years.

£6.99 Now TV day pass os cheaper than traveling down, plus they're a bunch of low lives so probably watch it for free on illegal streams.

It's all about the tv revenue, so they all say...so why should the actual attendance really matter a toss?

I wouldn't have thought the club's share of the revenue would be effected by viewing figures (don't know, just making an assumption), if that's the case then bums on seats are additional revenue whilst viewers aren't.

Granted no, there are probably more attractive away games for them. But it really isn't that far away and they could have gone top with a win. I'm sure their fans were banging on about how their support was so fantastic in away games last year.

They took nearly 9000 to MK Dons to be fair.

How many season ticket holders are there :?: about 14K :?:

So with an attendance of 17,500 that means there were 3,500 paying on the day. Excluding kids/OAPs etc for the sake of simplicity thats 3,500 * £25 = £87,500

If they had sold the tickets at £10 each and sold every seat in the house (for the sake of simplicity lets say the capacity is 25,000) then 9,000 * £10 = £90,000

Let's be generous and say that the increased policing and stewarding costs and the expense of advertising this wonderful discounted price would be covered by increased programme/cups of tea sales (they wouldn't) then it still feels like an awful lot of effort (and risk, with the game on the telly there's still no guarantee the ground will sell out) for £2,500 extra income

Using those figures we managed to sell about one thousand seats, assuming they had 2500
Huddersfield even less.

Of the 14 k season ticket holders I would have thought up to about 2k wouldn't attend for each game.

Would have thought that number might be higher towards the start of the season with people going on holiday and such.

For example, I have a ST but missed Ipswich game due to playing cricket and the Huddersfield game due to being on holiday.

And as we have discussed in the past the figure includes ST holders whether they attend or not., so stray fans are not bothering.

I don't think you'd have attracted many non-regulars who weren't going anyway for a game on SKY on a Sunday early afternoon even if you charged £1, let alone £10.

Attendance usually picks up through the season, unless you do really badly. I'd rather we saved the offers for games they might make a good difference to that can't be watched on TV. Perhaps the next home game after the TV match to try to entice those who watched it on SKY to come down.

Its a 1.15 game on a Sunday.
Your average weekend drinker just simply isn't going to arse about with the trains and just watch it down the local.
Reckon it would have been more Saturday, 3pm.
