From Despair To Where? McDermott works best when he's left to get on with it and, being chief scout for how ever long it was, he knows how to spot a player, He's also a very good manager of people. However, he proved himself to be naive tactically with us in the Premiership. Give him strong coaches to work with and he could possibly do a job in the Premiership. He get's the absolute best out of average players, not so good at managing big egos and big time charlies.
As for DoF, he worked extremely well with Nicky Hammond, but Hammond's role here is more to manage the business side of managing a football team, negotiating deals and contracts, etc, less about the coaching side. Depends really on what your DoF actually does.
Could he keep you up? Err, I'll get back to you......

Baggie192 If Irvine got the sack,. How would you rate Mr McDermott? could he keep us up and work with a DOF?
