MOTD: Football highlights show to remain on BBC television

The BBC has renewed its deal to show Premier League highlights on Match of the Day for a further three years, until the end of the 2018-19 season.

The agreement covers MOTD's Sunday morning repeat, MOTD2, Football Focus and a new midweek show on Wednesday nights on BBC Two and BBC Two HD.

Barbara Slater, Director BBC Sport, says MOTD, in its 50th year, is "the most iconic brand in television sport".

MOTD, together with MOTD2, has a weekly audience of nine million.

Yes, let's rejoice in that fact that Robbie Savage and Martin Keown will remain in employment with the BBC #gravytrain

Really like Martin Keown, talks a lot of sense. Reckon he'll make a good manager one day.

He was player manager for my team when I played at Wembley. We won 3-0. Some would say it was down to him. They'd be wrong. It was down to me scoring a hat-trick.

Recall you telling us this before, either it was down to his tactical genius or we need to sign you up as replacement for Pog.

Your choice.
