I was really looking forward to WBB being back for this match but that article has got me worried. It sounds like it's either a club or compass run thing rather than WBB themselves which inevitably means they'll be incapable of serving beer without it tasting like shit.

Fingers crossed.

It's not how I interpreted that article. WBB have been posting pictures of that unit all week, so I'm hoping they'll be manning it.
Rather hoping they'll be bringing some Mr Chubb's along too.

as the club gage (sic) exact levels of demand

Are the club really incapable of employing staff within their media department who can actually spell themselves, rather than relying on spellcheck and being incapable of spotting when it misses one of their errors?!

Mind you, Fordham was just as bad at the EP.

Yes, when people are being paid well to work in the media. Could never believe how Fordham (and his editor for that matter) managed to get a job at the EP. His spelling and grammar (please note spelling of that word Green  ) were appalling.

Had one before the game - very nice if a tad cold. Any left at HT?

Didn't look too busy when I went past. Felt guilty not having a pint but
a) damn cold
b) was hoping to have my pint with Hog Roast bun - but they've done away with that stand to put WBB there! And I don't fancy burger and bitter together.

Two burger stands behind East Stand and no Hog Roast - thanks for the choice!

2 before the game and 1 at half time, some muppets serving in there but the service was quick enough.

They seemed to be busier than they expected when I popped by about 2pm. The collection of staff standing there looking disorganised and gormless was a little off putting.

Despite the chaotic service and slightly high price - they still managed to pour a decent pint. Give them time though.

Seems you were right PE with regards to Compass staffing it. Bit of a pity I thought, there was a much friendlier atmosphere at the previous West Berks 'beer tents'. Felt more like a beer festival, especially when you could chat with the bloke who'd brewed it.

Really think they're missing a trick in only offering Good Old Boy. There's a big audience who may well be put off by a relatively dark bitter. Don't know why they don't bring along a couple of barrels of something lighter, alongside the GOB, as a 'special' for each game.

lol service was a shambles

Me: a Half please
Guy on till: 6 pound please
Me: no a half please
Guy on till: OK sorry 2 pound please
Man Serving Drinks: here's your pint and a half
Guy on till: No he just wants a half

Man serving drinks proceeds to pour the full pint into a half pint glass spilling lots on the floor thus leaving 2 half pint glasses and and a pint glass with now less than half in it.

Man serving drinks then tries to give me the two half pint glasses
Guy on till: Nope he just needs one
Guy on till gives me the pint glass with less than half in it.
Me: nope i will have one of the half pints please as you spilt that on the floor.

Ad infinitum

I'd love to see their mild being served, GOB is a decent bitter but the mild is a fantastic beer. I'm yet to try anything else from their range but maybe their Pilsner would be a good chance to cater to the lager drinkers (and probably with a half decent lager!). Even if they wanted to stick to non-lager drinks, they do a pale ale I believe.

For future reference the girl pouring on the right side is clueless, worth the wait on the other side to get a full pint and some head (oooh err)

Didn't have time for a pint this week, but did notice a polypin behind the bar alongside the GOB casks. Did they bring an alternative offering?
