I'd rather be a 'poof' than an illiterate, bigoted, pigeon-brained thicksh1t. No disrespect.

My dad, for example, he's not as cosmopolitan or as educated as me and it can be embarrasing you know. He doesn't understand all the new trendy words - like he'll say "poofs" instead of "gays", "birds" instead of "women", "darkies" instead of "coloureds"

Still trying to work out how Wigan have twice as many followers on Twitter as they have fans!

genome So you admit you're a massive helm?

Personal insults. It's not my fault the Daily Mail placed you in 43rd spot below Notts County.

Notts county were founder members of the football league so had a head start. Having said that Wigan joined the league in 1976. I know they had several years in the prem and won the cup, thanks to Dave wheel an bank rolling them. But are they a bigger club than us? I would put Swindon above them!

I now live in South Africa, which tends to concentrate the mind a bit, but isn't "coloureds" an offensive term in its own right? Down here, the term refers to a distinct racial group based in the Cape, but I am sure that coloureds is not the term of choice for black UK citizens.

As for women being birds. Why not? If men can be guys, then surely.......

Political Correctness...my arse! :-)...but you were being ironic
...right?

It wasn't the fact that the term "poofs" was used; it was the fact that what was being implied was that being gay, or whatever term you want to use, is a bad thing.

As in "Brighton are just a bunch of poofs". And so?

So, if you're arguing that point Ian - are Chelsea bigger than Liverpool? 8)

Unsurprisingly Kes, that's a rather irrelevant, simplistic and shallow response for you to continue your Liverpool obsession.

If i can be arsed, I'll explain why in more detail when I'm not posting on a phone and can fact check a couple of thoughts more comfortably

The number of wooshes on this thread regarding The Office quote is more interesting than the boring point of it.

Reading are small. We know.

You're saying Brighton are smaller than you as their league positions have, in the main, been inferior to Reading's over a recent period of time. Be consistent Ian. Using a 'stat' to suit your own club but then rubbishing it for another club isn't consistent.

Ok, lets deal with this bizarre comparison then.

Firstly, neither Brighton or Reading have ever won a major trophy from what I can find on a quick online search, so that simplifies comparisons somewhat. Brighton's best seems to be FA Cup Runners Up and ours is Simod Cup Winners. Pretty similar level of major achievement there. Also, we're one win (Lolz, like that's going to happen) away from equaling Brighton in the FA Cup.

In comparison:
Chelsea have 4 League titles, 7 FA Cups, 5 League Cups and 4 Euro Cups of various flavours, whilst Liverpool have 18 (EIGHTEEN) League titles, 7 FA Cups, 8 League Cups and 8 Euro cups of various flavours. That's a pretty big difference.

Secondly, Brighton have averaged finishing an entire division below Reading (25 places) over the last 20 years, managing as far below as 50 odd places a couple of times. Reading have spent several years in the top flight in that time to Brighton's none, and no seasons in the bottom flight to Brighton's several.
By comparison:
Chelsea have finished above Liverpool in 11 of the last 20 seasons, with an average finish +0.2 places above Liverpool.

That puts Chelsea marginally ahead on League placing, and definitely trophies in recent years, but given Liverpool shit all over Chelsea prior to that, I hope you can see why I've pointed out it's a truly atrocious comparison to Brighton and Reading.

Please also note, I'm not arguing Reading are bigger than Brighton... I'm pointing out why the argument that Brighton are clearly bigger than Reading is utter drivel.

But traditionally Brighton have ALWAYS been a bigger club than Reading - which is the point here.

I thought Brighton was the biggest club in the country, the sort that only the likes of ManU and Liverpool could rival.

On what basis and by how much? They're far behind us over the last 20 years and have achieved oxf*rd all of note more than us. I'd say we're pretty much the same size.

Nice to see you don't disagree Liverpool piss all over Chelsea size wise and it was a shit comparison... making progress Kes.
