Agreed, 1000%

Also heard on TalkSport last night that Joe Garner got POTS for League 1 :| Bristol City are runaway champions, you'd expect one of their players to have picked up the award

To be fair to Garner, Preston are second, it's not a complete randomer from a relegation side.

Mr Angry Trying to be objective here, but to not have either Wilfred Zaha or Victor Moses in that team is terrible; also I would have had Speroni or Kenny (let alone Marcus!) as the keeper and Darren Pratley was immense in midfield for Swansea.

I am also genuinely unable to think of a better or more consistent left back than Shorey, and how Zamora has been left out is also a mystery.

Hey ho.

You could also argue why Robert Earnshaw isn't in there either....

Exactly, another player who scored a lot of goals over a longer period of time, which is what a "team of the decade" would imply. Not just a "players who have played in the championship who have since gone on to better things" eleven, which is what this is closer to.

I would think we are judging from the start of the 2004/5 season no? A few of the players mentioned in this thread did their best work before that season.

A bit of further research on the players listed (only qualifying clubs listed ie only Bale's Forest career counts on the list)

The Football Manager Team of the Decade

Goalkeeper: Kasper Schmeichel (various loan spells from Man City to Darlington, Bury, Cardiff and Coventry 2004-08, then permanent at Notts County 09-10, Leeds 10-11, Leicester 11-present)
Defender: Angel Rangel (Swansea 07-present)
Defender: Gareth Bale (Southampton 06-07)
Defender: Wes Morgan (Forest 02-12, Leicester 12-present)
Defender: Ashley Williams (Stockport 03-08, Swansea 08-present)
Midfielder: Wes Hoolahan (Blackpool 06-08, Norwich 08-present)
Midfielder: Adam Lallana (Southampton 06-14)
Midfielder: Peter Whittingham (loans from Villa at Burnley and Derby both 2005, Cardiff 07-present)
Forward: Glenn Murray (Carlisle 04-07, Rochdale 07-08, BHA 08-11, Palace 11-present, Reading (loan) 14)
Forward: Rickie Lambert (Stockport 02-05, Rochdale 05-06, Bristol Rovers 06-09, Southampton 09-14)
Forward: Jordan Rhodes (Ipswich 07-09, Huddersfield 09-12, Blackburn 12-present)

Manager: Eddie Howe (Bournemouth player 04-07, Bournemouth manager 08-11, Burnley manager 11-12, Bournemouth manager 12-present)

Bale makes team of the decade on the basis of one season, playing in a position he wasn't especially good at, and certainly not where he is playing for Real Madrid now...
