Celtic can't just up and leave to join the English league, so that's a moot point.

How's he suspended for the final? Do suspensions from cup games in Scotland only apply to cup games? If so does that mean Craig Gordon doesn't have to serve a suspension until January next year or something?

Yup - its why Stokes missed the semi final, as he was sent off in the Q/F

Seems a bit silly. Can almost see the situation now, top 2 are level on points - and meet in the semi final. Centre half decides to take out the star stiker of the opposition with 5 mins to go as they are 3-0 down and out, knowing he will only be banned for the next cup game he plays - i.e. the 3rd round tie (or maybe 4th round in Scotland) the following season when they could be drawn against some lowly opposition.

In the meantime, the opposition striker is out for a few weeks and misses the key league game that the two sides play a couple of weeks later - guaranteed to happen in Scotland due to the league split for the last 5 games.

This is true, but to counter balance no one gives a tuppenney fcuk about the Scottish league and their shitty way of doing things.

Don't get me started on the Welsh FA either.

Sanguine In similar scenes - an Inverness player has been banned from the Scottish Cup final retrospectively for handball, following controversy in the semi-final vs. Celtic, who were denied a clear penalty.

Retrospective punishments for violent play are one thing, but going back and correcting refereeing mistakes? Do I not like that.

I wonder if the roles had been reversed whether the same decision would have been made? (I suspect not).

The fact that the SFA bend to the will of the biggest club in their whole football structure is a symptom of how corrupt Scottish football is; corruption isn't just about wads of cash in brown envelopes - it is also about undue favour being given to and massive influence being able to be exerted (and paying off) to the sole benefit of one club and to the detriment of not only all the other clubs, but also to the notion that Scottish football has ANY integrity whatsoever.
