Winston Smith
Froomes Finishing 2nd last year was a complete fluke and will realistically not be repeated anytime soon unless they spend a truly ridiculous amount of money, which they don't have.

How do you fluke an entire league season?

By having Suarez and a fit Sturridge.

If it was the norm Liverpool wouldn't have spent the last 5 or so years in the CL wilderness would they?

Despite what the bin dippers would have you believe they are now firmly at the same level as Spurs. The odd season where they massively overachieve (mainly due to one player having a stormer, eg Suarez/Bale) and trick some poor fools into thinking they're a top team followed by years of mediocrity...

So it was deserved because they had those players then.

So as I said, Liverpool finishing second then, they hadn't done it in the previous few seasons and they didn't get anywhere near repeating it this season. So last season was essentially a fluke.

'Could not be repeated' rules it out as a fluke then because it could be repeated. You may not think it likely but it absolutely could be repeated.

Was it a "fluke" that City and Chelsea got 2 ridiculously wealthy owners prepared to invest in non-achieving clubs?
Presumably if a club flukes one outstanding player then it is just as flukey to get one outstanding owner?
BTW what is a "bin dipper" for those of us not living in the chav world?

A bin dipper is a term used to describe the chavs that live in Liverpool.

It is derived from their habit of foraging in dustbins for food, clothing and mating partners.

It is also used to identify the foolish collective that believe that Liverpool FC is a major footballing power.

And yes of course it was a fluke that both Chelsea and City were bought by billionaires, however it isn't a fluke that they continue to win things because they spend their money on world class players for the most part, compared to Liverpool who spend 20m on players like Lovren...

But if you have a never-ending supply of dosh you can afford to waste money on players like Cuadrado and Luis Fellipe or Mangela and Jovetic.
At City and Chelsea the managers play Championship Manager (It's called buying the title) whereas elsewhere they have to be a bit more circumspect and manage the best that they can.
BTW Kes has Abramovich sacked the horrible little one again for producing boring football as he did before?

Sanguine Well played.

Liverpool cancel contract talks.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... act-900000

If Sterling isn't already out the door, his agent is one unpopular guy right now.

BR has come out this morning and said Sterling will see out the final two years of his contract. Someone will pick up a decent free signing then.....

I neither support City nor Chelsea but imagine getting rattled by Chelsea and Mourinho winning the league with 'boring football'...

If spending 20m on Lovren, 20m on Markovic, 25m on Lallana and even 35m on Andy Carroll is considered circumspect then serious questions are needed to be asked.

Fair comment but Chelsea are different gravy-isn't it supposedly £500,000,000 that Chelsea have spent in Roman's time?

Chelsea net spending over last 2 seasons = £54.4m
Liverpool net spending over last 2 seasons = £58.7m
