SCIAG Ferdinand-Hector for me. None of them are as reliable as Pearce who is a big loss, but those two are the best.
I take it you have not seen McShane play yet or this just a wind-up

Ian Royal Can you explain how you've reached the conclusion that Clarke thought Pearce was a liability when he:
1. Played him in most games last season
2. Didn't sign a centreback last season
3. offered Pearce a contract to stay here this summer.
You can't because it's just your personal bias transferring your view onto Clarke when there's zilch to suggest he'd agree.
I'm a big fan of Pearce and think he was far from the weak link last year, although even I wouldn't go as far as SCIAG. McShane and a fit Ferdinand are adequate replacements and leave us stronger overall.

Are you utterly utterly mental? Are you? The only thing that bloke was reliable for was making big errors, which he's clearly continued to do at his new club.
McShane was solid the other night, hit the bar on Saturday - he's slotted right into the team already. I'd put Hector alongside him to nurture his development.

Hector has the potential to become a far better player.

RoyallyFcuked He actually would have been better off playing Cooper but he didnt want to let on that he didnt rate Pearce until the summer when he could let him go so he played him in most games until the end of the season.
RoyallyFcuked 3. You're being very naive but you think that if you want to. I'm pretty sure Clarke told him he wasn't in his plans, but as he had been at the club for a long time I'm sure they gave him the chance to say it was his choice to leave (this does happen in football). I seriously doubt whether he was offered a new deal and to be honest I'd have my doubts about Clarke if he was.

Why? It's not like we needed to convince someone to shell out for him. You think Clarke would risk his job deliberately picking a weakened side? Risk the chance to win the FA Cup?RoyallyFcuked 3. You have absolutely no evidence to back this up.
We didn't give Murty or Hahnemann or Ingimarsson or Harper that opportunity. What if Pearce hadn't found a new club or had just come out and said that he hadn't been offered a new deal - bit embarrassing for us?

This is also the Cooper who played in both our worst defeats last season. Potental there, but madness to say he was better than Pearce.

Upper West Ginger Still early days yet, but if this pair stay fit and suspension-free, they could be the best pairing since Sonko and Ingimarsson.
