Cheap women

by Dick Habbin's hairdo » 21 Nov 2015 03:49

.... at Farnborough.

Can't see this posted anywhere else - The Team or General Football - but apparently RFC Women offered a "derisory" amount to extend the ground share at Farnborough.

Dave-Royal why can't there play at mad stand

Don't they need a full sized pitch rather than just a stand? And wouldn't a stand be sloping? And have steps? .... I'll get my coat.

Given the crowds they get I've have thought Palmer Park would be an option. They could use the athletics stadium there for big games.

Good to see you've recovered sufficiently from the SC fiasco to display some humour, Strap. I was worried for you!

Given the financial state of Farnborough over the last few years I would question their owners use of the word 'derisory'.

Would've thought Scours Lane would be an ideal fortress?

Incidentally...RTFC's last official crowd v Didcot Reserves was recorded as...just..........

Their crowds this season have been 40, 13, 5, 3, and 6.

A few seasons ago, they made moves on expansion....extra seats etc....to ensure that their promotion credentials could be fulfilled.

I used to take my lad there back then......but by christ......what an implosion

Sad really

Maybe our ladies could utilise and develope their niche market there?

At the lower end of the ladder the ground requirements for clubs are crazy. But it would make sense for Reading FC to take on Scours Lane and use it as a satellite ground for the Ladies and age groups. The only problem would be over use as Iirc it's already home to Reading Town and Woodley United. Woodley net there because there was nowhere else locally that would meet the requirements for seating and facilities in step 6

I presume none of you have played at Scours Lane? I played on it in September and the surface had more divots than a school pitch

Strange statement from Farnborough.

Fair enough reject the offer - but to post about a "derisory" offer shows bitterness on their part. Just reject it and move on.

It is probably their owner playing his usual game which is why they are under so much financial pressure.

Nothing a groundsman couldn't sort out. Presumably they don't have a full time pro groundsman, just willing volunteers ?

id have gone with something less football pitchy, and more divoty, like the first tee of a golf course
