Likewise, Rotherham have six to play but one is against MK Dons so they lose that but win the other 5 and that gives them more than 51 points.

Fulham have 6 games but 2 are against teams below them. They lose those 2 but win the other 4 and that gives them more than 51 points.

And so on and so on for every team below us. We are safe but it is not yet a mathematical guarantee.

Wouldn't it make a difference when you take into consideration the teams below us, and who everyone is playing? For example, if MK Dons have to play all the teams below us and win all 7, then those teams below us would drop points and therefore possibly not be able to get above us, etc...

Not as straightforward as purely points multiplied by games!

They only have to win 5 out of 6 and they don't have many games against the teams at the bottom who also need a lot of wins. It's not there yet, but it could well be after the next game.

No, it's not as straightforward but it still stands that at this moment, regardless of who's playing who, every team below us bar Bolton can still catch us. However, the basic equation is that if we win on Saturday and MK don't, we are mathematically safe.

Do the maths, they could all easily do it before Forest and I see nothing in that list of remaining fixtures to prevent it now. None of them need to get maximum points. Only two or three need more than 3 wins out of six.

I know that and I have taken that into account. If every team beats the teams above them and loses to the teams below them, they can all mathematically still catch us. It's not rocket science.

The BBC used to have a cool Predictor feature where you can punch in the scores for the reminder of the season and come up with a final table. Is there something similar laying about?

Found one. Here's the worst case scenario - we lose all 7, MK Dons and Charlton win their 6 games and whoever else is below us on the given matchday wins their match (with the lower ranked team winning if two teams below us are playing each other)

Of course, the odds for this happening are astronomical.

Exactly what I worked out last night in about 2 minutes simply by looking at the remaining fixtures.
