Stuka GB is simply the geographical island which England, Scotland, and Wales form part of. It annoyed me (well not really) that the Olympic team is called Team GB when there's no such legal entity as Great Britain any more since Ireland joined the Union, and part of it remains so. Great Britain used to be a specific country but not any more.

Anyway back on topic- if Gibraltar football team plays Andorra would the game be in Barcelona and thus Spain? Andorra seem to play some of their games there at Espanyol's ground. The Catalonians wouldn't mind of course, judging by the Gib FA's facebook page they are getting a lot of congratulatory messages from up there.

- Team GB came from the squad that went to the 1996, with some help by a marketing person on the trip, I think it was the drier GB&NI before then and the official name is still the Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic Team. I think.

- It was only a single country for around one hundred years - 1707 when Scotland went bankrupt over Panama to 180something when Ireland joined. But that's not really important.

- I think Spain don't want to recognise Gibraltar as there'd be better arguments for separate Basque, Catalan and Gallegan teams so they may play somewhere else in that case.

- the support from Catalans follows.

I ask because Spain has 2 parcels of land in Morroco that Morroco wants back,

more than two

there's a few small military bases including my favourite one:

the little footbridge is the border, I think.

As well as Ceuta and Melilla, both of which are inhabited and the peninsula pictured above - Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera - there are at least half a dozen uninhabited islands off the Moroccan coast that 'belong' to Spain.

Yeah, that got said already. :|

Why couldn't they call it "Team UK" surely that has the right ring to it, and is also more correct?

Not to The Olympics, who regard "Ireland" (rather than the Republic of...) as a single country, and say GB doesn't include Ireland

I'm not sure that's correct - at least not now. The Irish Olympic Council used to insist they represented the whole island but given that TeamGB is still formally the Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic Team, I think someone might have got IOC and OCI mixed up.

Anyone interested?

A Gibraltar Cricket President’s XI will take on a Lords & Commons XI at the Victoria Stadium on Saturday 7th December. This 40 overs per side match against the distinguished guests is scheduled to commence at 11am and it is to hoped that the weather will be obliging with the game just over 3 weeks before Christmas.

Different sport, I know but, frankly, 8)

And Gibraltar have been given a possible lifeline in a move for full FIFA membership after the CAS told FIFA to look again at their request.

Jersey and Greenland were waiting to see if Kosovo were accepted as they apparently felt that would be a big indicator as to whether their applications will also be accepted.

Similar positions and conditions apparently

GibROFLataROFL and Kosovo......I don't mind them taking full international membership of the corrupt and useless FIFA, but they should be made to pre-qualify against each other for the right to enter qualifying campaigns against the likes of England etc. instead of hanging off the coat-tails of the richer and more influential associations. That is the only way to make the likes of Gibraltar, Kosovo, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Faeroes and Scotland improve to come up to the required standard and save us all the tedious rigmarole of one-sided group matches in the qualifying round. After all, the likes of Binfield have to win 8 ties to get a chance to play against the likes of Manchester United in the FA Cup, they do not enter at the same stage :|

To be fair to Kosovo, it is recognised by the UN as an independent state.
