Even so, if Liam Kelly is going to be making the starting eleven we'll still struggle to average 6 foot as a team.

What was it again, one goal from a corner last season? Three, if you count the goals the opposition scored at the other end.

I'm liking the look of what Stam is trying to do here. A pass and move style, playing 4-3-3 attacking football, and some beasts getting on the end of set-pieces. The new signings all appear pretty promising so far, and the youngsters knocking on the door look decent (Fosu, Barrett, Evans, Samuel, Kelly). There's a little of optimism creeping back in now. Top half may not be beyond us this season. Any more would be a bonus.

Let's see us against the likes of Swansea and not Boreham Wood first, hey.

If we can get a top striker then I'll start to feel optimistic. We need someone who is going to finish off these great passing moves.

Complete overhaul on the playing front, a new manager and a passing style of football based on the Ajax model?

We've been here before haven't we?

We now have 4 strikers and although I think we need to sign a top striker I reckon we'll try and play with just Rakels, Kermorgant, Samuel and Mendes

Also playing 4-3-3 may mean actually not having more than one recognised striker on the pitch as wide midfielders/wingers may get the nod.

It's got nothing to do with the performance against Boreham Wood. Look at BM last season. No idea what formation to play, he chopped and changed week in, week out, and that unsettles the players. Now the players know what the manager wants. That is so important. It's also a very positive way to play football. It will take time, and the younger players will need patience, but at least they now have a sense of direction again. They know what's expected of them, and they appear to have rediscovered the hunger that's been missing.

Yeh, good to see Stam sticking with the same team and formation in all the games so far.

Tried to find a formation with the players available. No guarantee the squad will gel this year either.

Hopefully we are going for effort, spirit etc over technical ability this summer. Simply too lightweight last year.

New signing trend - they all belong to the same agency. Including Stam AND his coaching team. N-e-p-o-t-i-s-m

Gaston Campi is 6'4" as well.

This is the same McDermott who got criticised for consistently playing a diamond and who is often criticised for only playing his favourites right?
