Beer season ticket

by Top Flight » 04 Jul 2016 11:08

Wealdstone FC are selling Beer season tickets. A novel idea.

For £75, you get 25 pints or bottles of beer. The vouchers can be used all in one go or throughout the season.

That works out at £3 a pint.

RFC sells car park season tickets. I wonder what else could be season ticketed.

I'd be interested in a hot dog season ticket

As long as the Stones are committed to responsible drinking then I think that's a great idea.

Good idea. The prices should fluctuate depending on the situation on the pitch.Losing and the prices drop.winning and they increase.

Whatever happened to those cards that you were going to be able to pre-load with cash which could then be used to buy shit in the concourse?

What about a golden gamble season ticket or a park and ride/football bus season ticket?

They couldn't find anyone willing to buy faeces due to it being freely available, so they binned the idea.

Cologne do the pre-paid cards. Only trouble was you were always left with surplus on the card as it was impossible to get anything to round up with their prices. On the plus side - no queues at all for beer despite a 40,000+ crowd.

Ye, I was gonna say Bayern Munich do the same. (The Germans always get it right, don't they).

I think I'd be willing to pay the little extra to avoid the queuing like with that system, though. Everyone's a winner then.

They trialed it in the UW(N) a few seasons back and at the end of that season the reps said it was successful and would be rolled out to all concourses the next season. It didn't happen and when I asked the club why they said that the company operating the scheme wanted too much in service charges to make it viable. Pity though because it cut down on queues and you got a discount if you preloaded your member card on line.

Surely contactless cards should make this redundant? Just bring in some card machines and make some queues contactless card only.

Mind you, paying only takes about 30 seconds. Its the ten minutes whilst the staff look blankly at each other and stumble up and down the counter that takes the time. (Some really good exceptions to that of course and some brilliantly helpful people. But as a sweeping generalisation the Mad Stad and hotel have the worst staff of anywhere I've ever been)

(Jazz cafe staff brilliant though, as are the two food vans outside east stand)

Ajax also do the prepay cards.

Found it more of a ballache tbh, especially when visiting somewhere for 1 game as the minimum you could load onto it was 20 euros.

Agree on both these counts.

I only drink about about 5-6 home games as most of the time I drive. When I do use the bars in the Concourse the delays and waiting is excessive. Any kind of queue and you could be there for 10 minutes waiting. I've had some good experiences but mostly bad. I heard that those who reserved a pint for half time also had some issues.

As you state, Jazz Cafe staff have been excellent when I've been in there. Even during a rush, very responsive and friendly, get your order quickly and serve you in the right order.

Last season I did get a pint outside at the van and with about half left I tried to enter the ground but was stopped and told by the turnstile people that I had to finish it outside. Annoying as what's the difference in drinking it in the concourse or outside? At the time when I posted on here about it, someone said it was a clear breach of the agreement and that it was initially agreed you could take beer inside.

Whenever I have had a beer on the concourse at half time, by the time I receive said pint I have 2 minutes before the second half to drink it.

The pint is so cold downing it would almost certainly give me brain damage so I end up missing a few minutes of the second half.

Expensive for the club to implement and probably wouldn't pay off in the long term as everyone is switching to contactless payment with credit/debit cards on either plastic, their phone or watch. It's even supposedly going to replace the oyster card in London.

This is true - what happened to the guys with the big beer packs on their backs?

I wondered that too - I wish they'd bring them back. Great for when you're properly on it and just want a quick drink
