The rise of the hipster club

by Green » 11 Oct 2016 14:06

Just reading up on Clapton FC, a new breed of non league football club (founded in 1878) who take a no nonsense approach to supporting - the "Clapton Ultras" being formed of fans fed up with the modern game and the average fans who watches it.

Then of course there's Dulwich Hamlet, famous for playing in pink and where the fans crack open craft beers while watching the match.

Are there any others? Have to say its almost enough to tempt me back into attending matches more regularly.

On Dulwich

They have slogans such as "Communism is inevitable" and "Ordinary morality is for ordinary football clubs".

Let's be honest, here, Green, if it wasn't for the ticket prices, Reading are an ideal fit. Nice little medium sized club, run by insane Thais and their powerpop ballads, always an odd chance of something interesting happening.

I went past Peckham Town FC on Sunday. I'm going to support them.
