Your first pair of boots

by MoorgateRoyal » 14 Oct 2016 10:44

What was your first ever pair of boots?

I remember having a pair of black Hi-Tec which were terrible in hindsight. Since then, I have cycled through Nike, adidas and Puma with little dips into the likes of Mizuno.

Great topic.

I saved up a fiver to buy some Cotton Oxford mouldeds off a lad I knew and proceeded to churn up my back garden.

Best to go on proDirect and get some top of the range Lottos or Jomas when they get discounted as they're class but well priced

My very first pair of football boots were, I'm pretty sure, Savacentre's very own.

First range of boots that I specifically remember going for as a kid were these though

Had a few pairs of really comfortable Mizuno's in the mid-90s before sticking with Copa Munds and World Cups ever since.

I got mine from SoccerScene in Carnaby Street years ago - not sure if they even make them any more.

Wasn't Michael Thomas the face of Valsport? I remember he was one of the first to wear yellow boots that matched the Liverpool away kit circa '97

First player I ever saw wear them was Daniele Massaro. I don't remember Michael Thomas wearing them.

Similar here. A cheap pair that used to belong to my brother, and had been sitting at the back of a wardrobe for four years until I grew into them. They'd been almost squashed flat from having stuff placed on top of them all that time, and the leather has become about as supple as wrought iron.

Never owned a good pair, but this was the early 80s, and few people really cared. Football boots were a functional item, always black, not a fashion statement.

spot-on tmesis..an identical scenario

Although I actually inherited mine early 1970's.....it sounds like those same boots re-surfaced in your household 10 years later

First boots were some 70s Woolworths "Winfield" boots. Then as I was playing regularly my first reasonably decent boots would've been the cheapest kids Adidas boots, " Mendoza". My dream boots at the time would've been the Copa Mundials with the red studs and white and red soles.

A succession of no-brand 2 or 4 stripe boots when properly young. A few pairs of ok Mitre boots around the time they decided that you needed 7 studs not 6. Then thanks to our U15 manager owning the local sports shop a pair of fairly decent Adidas boots which I thought were Adidas Littbarski but a quick google suggests not. They had a sole a bit like Adidas World Cups but without the red horizontal stripe bit. Any ideas?

i DUNNO. There were plenty of similar Adidas boots around at that time. Like the Kaisers.

He're something a bit retro for this thread.
